3:09pm Final State wins its 72-67 in typical fashion down to the last second.

3:06pm Fells going to the line :07.2 left and makes the first and second State by 3.  Landesberg fouled by Fells with :03.5 left on the floor shooting a 1-1 and misses rebound Fells with :02 left and State up 70-67.   Fells makes both free throws 72-67

3:04pm Landesberg makes both free throws cuts it to a one point game with :08.7 left.  State calls a timeout up 68-67.

3:03pm Horner misses second UVA pushes Landesberg fouled by Fells with :08.7 left.  He goes to the line for 1-1.

3:02pm Dennis Horner at the line misses first free throw with State holding a 68-65 lead with just :16.7 seconds left. UVA calls timeout.

2:58 A Mamadi Diane sighting he hits a 3 to cut the State lead to just 3, 68-65 with :47.4 seconds left.

2:55pm  Sylven Landesberg hit a  contested 3 over  Fells, then the Pack answer with a CJ Williams 3 from the right baseline.  He has a game high 16.  However, UVA's Jason Baker hits a 3 then steals the inbounds and lays in a 2 to make it 68-63 with 1:42 left.

2:57pm State up 65-55 on the Cavaliers with 2:57 left.   Virginia continues to have success with the fullcourt press on the Pack causing turnovers.

2:46pm Javi Gonzalez showing some offensive skills like he did at UNC in the first half Wednesday night.  First he drove it through traffic to the hole then hit a 3.  He also made the pass that led to the assist on CJ Williams 3pter moments ago.  State up 62-50 with 4:42 left.  As State fans know all too well they are far from out of the woods in this one.

2:41pm Rare blocked shot by an NC State big man with Ben McCauley saying not in my house.  State up 53-43 7:54 left.

2:36pm NC State timeout after UVA cut it to 11, down 52-41.  Brandon Costner is still scoreless and visibly frustrated by his play.  He walked up the floor after missing a dunk attempt that he thought should have been called a foul.   UVA has now cut it to 52-43 with 8:11 left but State is in the bonus with Degand at the line.

2:30pm 11:34 left NC State has opened a 50-35 lead.  UVA has started the second half much like the started the first half, REAL slowly.  Virginia didn't score their 8th point until under 7:30 minutes left in the half.  So far they have scored only 6 points this half.

2:25pm Dennis Horner has scored 10 points off the bench, which is huge on a day where starter Brandon Costner is scoreless and now sitting on the bench.  State up 50-33 w/13:33 left in the second half.

2:21pm State has started the second half on a 9-2 run and leads 42-31.  The half court offense is moving the ball well and getting high percentage shots.  15:05 left in the second half.

2:15pm At the 17:28 timeout NC State leads 37-29 over UVA. Tracy Smith will be at the line again when play resumes.  Suddenly State is feeding the hard working power forward and he's drawing fouls left and right.

2:10pm They used to say no one works harder than Tyler Hansbrough.  The same can be said this season about Tracy Smith, the undersized power forward just out works guys at his position.  He just got two offensive rebounds before coverting to make it a 35-29 State lead.  He did miss the and one opportunity though.  He just got to the line again and made both of his free throws to make it 37-29 State.

2:08pm Brandon Costner was held scoreless in the first half and only took 2 shots in 16 minutes of play.

1:58pm NC State's bench has provided some punch with 16 points in the half most coming from the combo of CJ Williams and Dennis Horner with 8 and 6 respectively.  10 turnovers for State, 5 from Javi Gonzalez who also has 3 fouls and that's likely why Sidney Lowe sat him for the final 14 minutes of the half and played Degand who had 3 assists and just 1 turnover.  Virginia has a slight edge on the boards at 17-16, which is an area you would expect State to dominate with a much bigger unit.

1:52pm Farnold Degand lays one in at the buzzer to give State a slight cushion at the half 33-29.  Stats to come shortly

1:49pm A 13-2 run by UVA cut it to 28-25 State, but CJ Williams answered with a 3 to give State a 31-25 lead.  Jason Baker for UVA off a State turnover makes a runner to cut to 4, 31-27 State with under a minute to play in the half.

1:43pm UVA suddenly finding some success cutting the deficit to 10, 28-18 State with 3:58 left in the first half.  The Cavaliers full court press has caused State some problems with a couple of turnovers and problems getting into their offense.

1:38pm Sidney Lowe not happy with his team's last few possessions calls a quick timeout with the score 26-12 State at the 5:59 mark.

1:34pm Dennis Horner with a pair of 3s, State up 24-10 at the 7:30 mark.

1:30pm Four subs in for State with Degand, Harris, Williams, and Horner, joining McCauley on the court.  Horner and Wiliams both knocked down a 3 since entering the game.  Fells now in for McCauley at 9:06 and State up 21-6.

1:24pm No UNC hangover for State off to a 15-2 lead at the 11:31 mark of the first half.

1:18pm NC State has lost the shutout at the 14:16 mark as UVA finally scores.  UVA timeout after Ben McCauley buries a jumper to make it 10-2 at the 13:32 mark of the first half.

1:14pm First tv timeout at 15:58 of the first half and NC State is pitching a shutout 4-0.  So far Fells has done a nice job on UVA's Landesberg.  Both teams are working hard defensively.

1:10pm Courtney Fells is guarding UVA's outstanding freshman Sylven Landesberg, who is averaging 18ppg.  State up 4-0  at the 17:00 minute mark.

1:05pm UVA plays a smaller lineup, but it does include 7-foot freshman Assane Sene, who is a solid shot blocker.  It will be interesting to see if that has any impact on the Pack's post game.

12:25pm Getting ready for NC State and Virginia to start.  This game could have implications on seeding at the ACC tournament.  Right now State is 4-7 in ACC play, while UVA is 3-8.  The Cavaliers have won their last two games beating Clemson and Virginia Tech.  NC State lost last year's lone meeting against UVA in Charlottesville, but have won 8 of the last 10 here in Raleigh.
