Duke finally gets Scheyer going

One missing link for Duke this season has been the play of Jon Scheyer. He played a critical role for the Blue Devils last season as a sixth man, but this year, as a starter, he has contributed little.
Scheyer's shot just hasn't seemed the same, and you wonder if moving the three-point line back has had an impact on his game. Statistically, there doesn't seem to be much difference. He shot 38.8 percent from three-point range last season and is shooting 36.6 percent this year.
The move to point guard has rejuvenated him. It's been obvious for a while that Duke could only go so far with Greg Paulus at point guard. Coach Mike Krzyzewski apparently has come to the same conclusion on Nolan Smith. The current backcourt of Elliott Williams and Scheyer was super-productive Sunday against Wake. Scheyer scored a whopping 30 points, and while his ball-handling and defense aren't superior, at least he is contributing. One gets the strong feeling the Devils will need more of that if they are going to extend their season deeper into March.
