From bench warmer to award winner in a two-game span - it's safe to say that Duke's Elliot Williams has had a pretty good week.
Williams, a five-star recruit out of Memphis has started the Devils' last two games, against St. John's and Wake Forest, after seeing limited playing time all season up until that point.
Apparently, Coach K isn't the only one taking notice of his improved play.
The ACC named the 6-foot-4 shooting guard its Rookie of the Week Monday evening, after Williams averaged 11 points and a pair of steals in two starts.
The aggressive on the ball defender made more than 70% of his field goal attempts (10-14 shooting) and recorded the first two double-digit scoring efforts of his young career.
Williams couldn't have picked a better time to inject some youthful energy into Duke's lineup, as the Devils were in danger of losing ground in the ACC after dropping four if their last six games before this week's back-to-back victories.
Several of Duke's coaches and players admitted that Williams' four steals against the Demon Deacons, including several on All-ACC candidate Jeff Teague, provided the energy for the crowd and the team during Sunday evening's first half.
