ESPN Basketball Analyst Hubert Davis made his weekly visit to 99.9 FM The Fan, with “The Insiders” on Tuesday, where he gave his thoughts on some of the big stories in the ACC. When asked about Duke’s latest switch at point guard Davis said, “I really like Elliot Williams he’s an outstanding player and I was happy he was able to get some extended minutes, I think he’s a guy that can really help this team.” However, when it comes to Jon Scheyer now playing point guard Davis says that is not the answer. He also points out Duke is lacking size and now depth, which he believes is not going to get it done in the ACC or NCAA tournament.
Davis did of course weigh in the latest setback for his Alma Mater UNC. He believes one of the biggest reasons they lost to Maryland is because they did not feed Tyler Hansbrough in the post enough especially against a smaller Terps front line. What about the Heels defense? Davis said, “This is not about Xs and Os” and added the coaches can not do anymore. It is now up to the players to get after defensively or they will be beaten early in the NCAA tournament.
