The championship game of the Missouri Valley Conference tournament will be Sunday at 2 p.m., which has sparked some alert fans to contact WRAL to see what the station will do if the game runs long with Duke-Carolina beginning at 4 p.m.
The decision actually belongs to CBS, although WRAL Director of Programming John Harris said CBS is well aware of the interest nationally in the game in Chapel Hill.
If the Missouri Valley tournament is running long, the CBS procedures state “depending on time and circumstances surrounding the game, CBS Sports may elect to take WRAL viewers to the Duke at North Carolina game in time for tip-off.”
Harris said WRAL does not have the right or ability to separate the feeds on Sunday, as it does during the NCAA Tournament.
The bottom line is there is no guarantee the tipoff of the Duke-Carolina game will be shown on WRAL, but chances of much of the game being covered up are slim.
