Random thoughts from Atlanta

First of all, be sure to check out the Jason Jennings/Ryan Craig collaboration above - it's top notch. If you want to get a feel for the work environment here at the Georgia Dome, look no further than the Jason Jennings walking tour.
And now for more random thoughts about the 2009 ACC Tournament:
- Here we are in Coca-Cola country, and yet the media compound is stocked with Pepsi products - someone in the Coke marketing department should be fired.
- Bob Ryan of the Boston Globe is here, and he has the worst sunburn I've ever seen in my life - it pains me to look at the man. I don't know if he fell asleep in a tanning bed or if he's allergic to suntan lotion, but his face looks like a tomato wearing white goggles.
- Apparently, Greivis Vasquez is pronounced Grave-is and not Greeevis. Either that, or one of the coaches for Maryland is playing a cruel joke on the people watching the Terps practice by yelling out the wrong name.
- I wonder if you can sue the Atlantic Coast Conference for the cost of dental bills incurred from eating from the media spread. There's free candy just sitting on a counter all day - I've had 25 pink starburst and seven handfuls of Skittles at last count, and my sugar high has security confusing me for someone having a seizure.
- The economy is so bad that apparently free is still too pricey. I'm shocked by the lack of fans that have shown up to check out their favorite teams take the Georgia Dome court for the first time on practice day Wednesday. I know the ATL isn't exactly ACC country, but I figured the people that bothered to make the trek to the Peach State would want to take in as many of the festivities as possible - I guess I figured wrong. There are more people working the carving table at the media meal than in the stands watching the players.

Gary Williams kept complaining that the ACC Tourney was always in NC. I guess it's fair to spread the Tourney around the ACC, but to me Greensboro is Home of the ACC.RE: Random thoughts from Atlanta
Great comments and vid. This is why I like you guys over the stiffs at the N&O. More realness.RE: Random thoughts from Atlanta
First, WRAL carries the Duke - UNC game, which was being broadcast nationally by ESPN (blacked out on ESPN in WRAL land), instead of the NCSU - Wake Forest game, which NCSU won.- Posted by tlassiter3
Now, the NCSU vs. Maryland game is the only Thursday game not carried by WRAL, but carried on ESPN instead. WRAL states "contractually obligated" as the reason, but it sounds like payback for their previous indiscretions.
How about a little respect for the hometown (RALEIGH) team, from the "Battle of The Blues" crew!
WRAL has no say in what games they get. It's the ACC that sort of "rents" out the games to the different networks. Since WRAL has a deal with Raycom, it gets those games.
What's WRAL Got Against NCSU
