There had been some speculation in recent days that N.C. State was prepared to name Kay Yow's successor to the head coaching position of the school's women's basketball program.
That, in fact, is not the case.
Replacing the legendary coach has been a point of debate, as some people feel Stephanie Glance, the team's interim head coach and Yow's choice for the job, should be given the role, while others, including N.C. State Director of Athletics Lee Fowler, feel the school should conduct a search to find the best possible candidate.
As per university policy, the position was posted on the school's website, and applications were taken.
The post had been removed in recent days, fueling the thought that a coach had been found.
Nora Lynn Finch, the Director of Women's Basketball for the ACC, and the former Senior Associate Director and Senior Woman Administrator for N.C. State athletics, says the search will go on.
"Don't read anything into them taking the job posting down," Finch said. "The N.C. State search committee plans to meet next week."
