How will the Tar Heels play without Ty?

We have been wondering for a while, how would the Heels handle playing without Ty Lawson? We are about to find out. He has been ruled out of today's game against Virginia Tech. I would be surprised to see Lawson play at all this weekend however long or short the weekend is for the Heels. Last year at they had veteran in Quentin Thomas, who turned out to be steady but not spectacular. This year they will have to rely on Senior Bobby Frasor and Freshman Larry Drew III. The pace will certainly be slower, but the game plan does not change. Get the ball in the post to Tyler Hansbrough and work inside out. Wayne Ellington and Danny Green will need to knock down their shots from the outside and continue to work hard defensively. Deon Thompson and Ed Davis will need to continue to crash the boards and get points when the opportunities arise.
The message to Tar Heel fans should be clear. The goal is to win a National Title. The ACC tournament as Roy Williams has pointed out is a "cocktail party" for alumni. Sure it would be swell to win another one or the Coach and the program, but the NCCA Tournament Championship is all that matters. It is how programs and coaches are measured. Whether the rather safe than sorry approach pays off with another National Title for the Tar Heels this season remains to be seen, but it was a good first step on the road to Detroit.
