6:12pm FINAL SCORE Duke 67 Maryland 61

The Blue Devils took control in the second half with Jon Scheyer taking control of the game scoring 16 of his 22 in the second half and a defensive plan that shut down most of the Terrapins offense until late. It sets up a chowdown with Florida State tomorrow at 1pm.

6:08pm Duke 65 MD 61

Eric Hayes has taken over for MD but with under a minute it's too late.

6:05pm Duke 61 MD 55 56.3 left

Maryland on a 5-2 run and there is time, but Duke broke the press pretty easy last time downthe floor for a McClure dunk. Eric Hayes keeps Maryland hopes alive with a three in front of Scheyer to make things interesting.

6:01pm Duke 59 MD 50 1:26 to play

Kyle Singler's Free throws make it a three possession game. Maryland has gone cold from beyond the line and Duke can trade seconds and free throws to advance.

5:54pm Duke 56 MD 47 with 3:38 left

Maryland goes on a 4-0 run at the deadballtimeout, Duke has decided to slow down their play offensively and use some shot clock. Mike Krzyzewski is close to a return trip to the ACC Title game in three years.

5:49pm Duke 56 MD 43 5:51 left

David McClure's two lay-ins make a 9-0 run for Duke

5:45pm Duke 50 MD 53 7:24 left in the game

Don't leave him alone beyond the three point line, but Maryland did not heed the advice and boom goes the dynamite and Dukes biggest lead of the game. The Blue Devils have built this lead without Kyle Singler scoring a single point, he still has 12. But Scheyer has poured in 11 in twelve and a half minutes.

5:41pm Duke 47 MD 41

With the exception of Vasquez Maryland has gone quiet Dave Neal has been limited to 4 points for the Terps...David McClure sent Eric Hayes shot to the second row after a chot clock violation Gerald Henderson finds the range and pops a trey.

5:37pm Duke 44 MD 41 10:16 to go...

Again when it looks like Duke is going to pull away Greivis Vasquez has the answer. Duke pulled out a 44-37 but Vasquez and Dave Neal answer for Maryland. The Terrapins aren't going away.

5:32pm Duke 42 MD 37 11:42 to go in the game

Duke has been in control of the game, yet it seems at anytime the bottom can fall out. When Maryland gets close the Devils have and answer to keep it a 3 point game for the last 3 minutes. Jon Scheyer has picked up the pace he has 12 in the game, still wondering where is the impact play of Gerald Henderson who is 2-12  with 4 points.

5:27pm Duke 37 MD 34

Elliott Williams with a nice hustle play to follow the Nolan Smith jumper and a putback Duke extends the lead. Maryland has now missed 5 shots inside ten feet in their last two possessions

5:22pm Duke 35 MD 3415:09 left in the game

Maryland missed 3 attempts at the goal inside ten feet then threw the ball away.

5:20pm Duke 35 MD 34

He doesn't miss, Maryland do not leave Jon Scheyer open...EVER. Sean Mosely has both Terps hoops in the half.

5:19pm tied at 32

Sean Mosely gets it in the paint for the 2 points, getting into the lane is something the Terps might want to exploit

5:18pm with an air ball

5:17pm Duke starts with possession

The media poll is that Duke gets the ball to Singler to kick out to Scheyer for a three. Let's see.

5:10pm Greg Paulus has played 7 minutes

That equals the amount that he played against UNC and Boston College combined. Duke needs another scorer to compliment Kyle Singler who has now played all 60 minutes that Duke has been on the floor.

5:00pm At the half Duke 32 Maryland 30

While it has been the Kyle Singler and Greivis Vasquez show, the defenses of both teams deserve some credit the defenses Duke has forced 9 turnovers while the Terps have limited Duke to 32% shooting. Looks like we are in for another close finish.

4:55pm Duke 32 MD 28 51.9 left

Gerald Henderson athletic move to the basket, this could be the start for #15 to get going, and Jon Scheyer follows up with a deep three. The Devils are 50% behind the 3 point line so far.

4:53pm MD 28 Duke 27

Eric Hayes does get all three. Greg Paulus pats the refs on the behind...not a technical though.

4:49pm Duke 24 MD 23 3:37 left in first half

Singler drains a three to give him twelve for the half and Duke the lead. This game has a tough pace, when it seems things get picked up, Maryloand drags it back down, if it is Gary Williams strategy it is working perfect.

4:45pm Kyle Singler 9 Greivis Vasquez 9 but MD 23 Duke 21 with 4:17 left

These two are putting on a show shooting the basketball. One hopes their teammates do the same.

4:41pm Duke 18 MD 18

9 points already for the trash talking point guard. Duke is shooting an attrocious 26% from the floor.

4:36pm Duke 18 MD 16

The Devils are in a match-up zone, but it is the wrong one as Greivis Vasquez pops a three

4:31pm Duke 15 MD 13 11:04 to go

Kyle Singler is carrying the load for the Devils with 6 points in the first half so far. Duke has also started to break down the Maryland zone. Duke is on a 13-6 run.

4:23pm MD 11 Duke 8

More scoring in the last 2 minutes than the first 4.

4:22pm MD 7 Duke 6

Two buckes from the floor for Duke who step up the defensive pressure and have taken the ball to the hoop to get two baskets to break the 0 for from the floor.

4:20 pm MD 7 Duke 2 15:49 left in the first

Gary Williams has to be happy with this pace. His Terps are controlling the game, Duke is 0-6 from the floor to start.

4:16 pm MD 5 Duke 2

Lance Thomas strokes 2 free throws. David Neal of MD commited the foul.

4:12pm MD 5 Duke 0 17:47 to go in the first half

Adrian Bowie with the lay in to open the scoring, then hits a wide open three. Coach K calls a 30 second time out to talk over the start of this game.

4:11pm opening tap Duke 0 MD 0

Maryland controlled the opening tap but did not score, Duke just misses to looks.

3:56pm warm-ups Duke 0 Maryland 0

Duke and Maryland met three times earlier this decade int he Semi's or Finals of the ACC tournament and at one point had more impact on the NCAA scene than UNC/Duke. Today feels like old times as the Devils and Terps hook up again for a chance to advance to the ACC Championship game. Duke hammered Maryland at Cameron 85 to 44 and won 78-67 in College Park in the return bout. We have already seen how hard it is to beat a team three times with Clemson being up ended by Georgia Tech. This game comes down to Duke shooting over the Maryland zone, if the Devils are hot from outside Maryland will be in trouble, but the Terps have some answers. Greivis Vasquez has been dominant in the tourney so far, and Gary Williams team has played physical defense and have held NC State and Wake Forest under 70 points in two games. Winner gets the Noles in the title game. We're less than ten minutes away.
