Ellington quietly helping to carry Heels

While Ty Lawson's toe, Tyler Hansbrough's records, and Danny Green's shooting slump have hogged most of the story lines recently, one Carolina player has quietly had his most consistently impressive and efficient stretch of the season - Wayne Ellington.
The 6-foot-4 shooting guard hit 11 of 16 shots against Radford in the Heels' first round game of the NCAA Tournament, the fifth straight game he's hit more than 47% of his field goal attempts.
Yes, Danny Green may be cold from beyond the three-point line - he's hit five of his last 23 shots - but Ellington had made 12 of his last 23 to help pick up the slack.
Ellington isn't as fast as Lawson or controversial as Hansbrough, but he's arguably been Roy Williams' most steady player in Lawson's absence.
The silky smooth kid from Pennsylvania with an ear to ear smile has always had the ability to spread the floor for Carolina on offense with his ability to his the long-range shot, but his willingness to drive the ball to the basket recently has created a number of high percentage shots and rounded out his game.
The Tar Heels have more weapons this year than most teams can ever hope to have in a decade, but steady and balanced production from number 22 will only make them better.
Now that's a scary thought for anyone not wearing Carolina blue.
