Sgt. Hulka's big toe

Just call Ty Lawson Sergeant Hulka.
Because, like Bill Murray's drill sergeant in the movie Stripes, Lawson's Big Toe might as well be Carolina's "newest, bestest buddy." It certainly is the center of attention.
The status of Carolina's season centers on the status of Lawson's toe. But unfortunately, getting a toe-hold on Lawson's injury status makes about as much sense as the final scene of The Sopranos. You're sort of left wondering.
Lawson says he'll play Friday against Gonzaga, then goes so far as to say he's glad the toe situation can be put to rest.
"Everybody kept asking about it, I'm glad it's over with," Lawson said.
But is it?
Lawson's coach, Roy Williams, certainly seems to have his doubts.
Williams says Lawson told him his toe rates about a 6 on a scale of 10 right now, with 10 being the best. But to clarify, Williams asked Lawson how his toe felt Saturday before the LSU game. Lawson's answer? That was an 8.
Lawson played brilliantly on 80-percent of a toe last weekend. So for now, the entire college basketball world will have to keep guessing.
