Whereas, let's take a swipe at Duke
May 22, 2009
In case you missed it in the N.C. Senate, UNC fan Tony Rand, the majority leader from Cumberland County, got in a few digs at Duke in his resolution April 28 praising the Tar Heels’ national championship in basketball.
Buried among the “whereas” this and “whereas” that was this line:
“Whereas, the 89-72 Carolina win over Michigan State was a convincing and thorough victory but one that left intact Duke's record for the worst loss in Final Four history.…”
And then there was this one:
“Whereas, the senior players named above were undefeated in all away games played within a 12 mile radius of Chapel Hill…”
By the way, Rand’s son, Ripley Rand, once published a book for his own son titled, “I want to go to UNC.”

Why would someone who lives in SC comment about a story regarding a NC Senator? Tony is pompous, but he gets the job done, trust me.RE: Whereas, let's take a swipe a Duke
Nice to know our tax dollars are being put to good use. If they're not spending time voting to give themselves a raise, they're getting out of speeding tickets. For once, i just wish our politicians would earn their keep.RE: Whereas, let's take a swipe a Duke
People from the state of North Carolina don't use the word putz.Honestly, I laughed. It is no worse than the digs we give each other on the smack talk forums here. All in good fun. If Duke wins a national title again, then a pro-Duke legislator can do the same thing.
