Fells an NBA sleeper?

Check any NBA mock draft and you are going to see several ACC players on there.  You'll see Wake Forest, Duke, and North Carolina represented in the first round.  You aren't going to find anyone from N.C. State.

But one former Wolfpack player is turning a few heads among NBA scouts.

N.C. State coach Sidney Lowe said at his press conference on Thursday that he talked to Courtney Fells a few days ago and he is making the rounds with NBA teams, already having two workouts with the San Antonio Spurs.

"We knew they liked him during the year," Lowe said. "I talked to (Greg) Papavich, we knew they were looking at him strong, he's been to Charlotte and Golden State, Courtney has been everywhere, a lot of people are looking at him now."

A New York Post blog said Fells worked out for the New Jersey Nets on Wednesday.  Ty Lawson, Gerald Henderson and UCLA's Jrue Holiday were also there.

Nets GM Kiki Vandeweghe said he thought the workout was fun to watch, and also like the way Henderson and Fells shot the ball.  The Nets have the No. 11 overall pick.

Those three that Fells worked out with are all considered mid first round picks, but you won't find Fells name in any first round mock draft.

LSU guard Marcus Thornton is considered a possible late first round selection.  In an interview with NBADraft.net he said Courtney Fells is the toughest player he's gone against in any draft.

"I know he's not too high on a lot of people's draft boards but from the times I played against him he impressed me a lot."

RE: Fells an NBA sleeper?

Ultimately ....... yes I think Fells is a NBA sleeper. I do not see him getting drafted but a free agent pickup that will fit into some team's rotation.

RE: Fells an NBA sleeper?

^^Ty lawson is the only reason you had that run. If the pack had a Pg like that Fells would have looked a whole lot better than any of your forwards.

So, CFells would have been the all time leading scorer in ACC history?? Courtney Fells is really athletic but lets not make him to be a player he isn't and wasn't. He does not have a consistent shot, and he completely disappeared some possessions on both O and D. He needs to knock down jumpers to make it in the league, they are all athletic in the NBA.

RE: Fells an NBA sleeper?

Sleeper on the bench? ncguy I know its bitter but you state fans have to accept UNC Chapel Hill are National Champs. Ty could have helped NCSU but they needed/need more then a point guard.

Let's not even talk about the tarheels Oh I mean the bobcats..

RE: Fells an NBA sleeper?

That was the problem during his college career. He was too much of a sleeper. When he decided to wake up, he was great. Maybe now since he only has to focus on BBALL, will he be the player everyone thought he was.
