UNC-Duke to meet in ACC LAX championship

Charlottesville, Va. — It will be a battle of the blues on the green Sunday when Triangle rivals Duke and the University of North Carolina meet for the 2012 ACC Men's Lacrosse Championship.

The game begins at 3 p.m. on ESPNU. 

Duke advanced first, with a 6-5 win over Maryland in the first semifinal game. That was the opposite of last season's result, when the Terrapins ousted topped the Blue Devils for the ACC title.

Senior Josh Dionne had half of the Blue Devils points, and his goal with 14:38 left in the game proved the winner.

The total points scored – 11 – is the lowest in the history of the conference lacrosse championship tournament.

Carolina won the nightcap, 11-9 over Virginia. The game stayed close – the teams were tied at four at the half – until the fourth quarter when Carolina became the first team to open up a lead of more than one goal. The Tar Heels scored three in a row and led 11-7 with 1:55 remaining.

I'm looking forward to June and July, besides nba playoffs theres euro 2012 soccer and the London Olympics. There's also the inaugural year of MLL in Charlotte.

I think July is the worst month for sports. All there is, is the countdown till football.

Beating Virgina at home last night and being the #3 seeded team by 2 goals, proves this team is pretty good. I'm not a big fan of the game of lacrosse, but there's not much sports to watch now. This should be a good game. Go Heels!

Agreed. And, I think Carolina just beat UVA in the regular season as well, and I think they were ranked #1 when Carolina beat them, but I could be wrong.

There isn't much in the way of sports now, that's for sure. I don't watch the NBA (good thing with the way the Bobcats are doing), the Canes aren't in the playoffs, and I don't watch golf. I catch some Carolina baseball games, but nothing beats college basketball to me. I think July is the worst month for sports. All there is, is the countdown till football.
