Two months after his arrest for assault on a female, Henry Frazier was reinstated Monday to his position as head football coach at North Carolina Central University.

Police were called to Frazier's home May 14. His wife, Lanier Turner-Frazier, told police the couple was arguing when he grabbed her leaving marks on her upper arms and pushed her face, breaking her glasses.

NCCU put Frazier on paid leave pending the outcome of the criminal case.

On Monday, the school issued a statement, saying, "The legal matter involving Coach Frazier has been resolved."

NCCU Chancellor Charlie Nelms and Director of Athletics Ingrid Wicker-McCree both expressed confidence in Frazier's ability to lead the team and uphold the university's values.

Frazier took over North Carolina Central's football program in December 2010 after stepping down from the same position at Prairie View A&M.

RE: NCCU's Frazier back on job after assault charge

As an institution of higher education, it still baffles me as to the message NCCU and their athletic department is sending teenage men and women, on letting this man return to the sidelines and coach football, with no type of penalty coming his way at all. Coming from someone who has had a domestic batterer in the family, once the hitting starts it wont stop until something or someone makes it stop. He may be fine now, but what about when NCCU football looses its first game or first loosing streak, his wife better find a relative to stay with before its too late!

A very good example of poor reporting. They quoted the university as the matter was resolved but the reporter didnt check the court records to see what happened. An experienced reporter would have checked and reported on the results of the case. Abuse is never a one time thing. It happens over and over again. He left marks on her arms and broke her glasses and he goes back to work.

Was anyone on this post there when this happened ? How do you know what really happened ? Most times there are at least two sides to any spat/argument. Everyone just wants to jump to conclusions.

...That's right, more fun that way

RE: NCCU's Frazier back on job after assault charge

Apparently NCCU thinks it's ok to rough up females.

Praying for his wife, because counseling or not, I believe he will abuse her again. Most of them do, even WITH counseling.

RE: NCCU's Frazier back on job after assault charge

This is absolutely absurd. Imagine if Coach K or Roy Williams were arrested for Assault on a Female (their wife). You think the university would just turn a blind eye and say "legal matter involving Coach Frazier has been resolved." Yeah.... it's over, he's done beating his wife. That's OK with NCCU's Athletic Director and Chancellor? What is going on over there?!?
