Durham, N.C. — Duke wide receiver Jamison Crowder was named to the 2013 Biletnikoff Pre-season Watch List, announced Tuesday by The Tallahassee Quarterback Club (TQC) Foundation, Inc.
Crowder, a 5-9, 175-pound wide receiver from Monroe, N.C., posted totals of 76 receptions for 1,074 yards and eight touchdowns as a sophomore in 2012 while starting all 13 games for the Blue Devils. He ranked among the top five in the ACC in receptions per game (5.8), receiving yards per game (82.6) and receiving touchdowns.
Crowder is one of 75 players on the Billetnikoff Award Watch List and one of nine from the ACC. He is the fifth Duke player this season to appear on a major college football award watch list, joining Ross Cockrell (Nagurski Trophy, Thorpe Award), Ross Martin (Groza Award), Will Monday (Ray Guy Award) and Laken Tomlinson (Outland Trophy).
A native of Monroe, N.C., Crowder set a school record with five touchdown receptions of at least 50 yards last season, one of which covered an ACC-record and NCAA-record tying 99 yards against Miami in week 12. Crowder hauled in eight passes for 203 yards and two touchdowns in that game against the Hurricanes for his fifth 100-yard receiving performance of the season.
The most experienced member of Duke’s receiving corps, Crowder will anchor a Duke offense that averaged 409.2 yards per game in 2012 and scored a school-record 51 touchdowns. The Blue Devils open the 2013 season with a home contest against N.C. Central on Saturday, August 31, at 4 p.m.
The Biletnikoff Award recognizes the outstanding receiver in college football. The award recipient is selected by the Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee, a group of over 200 prominent college football journalists, commentators, and former receivers. Receivers may be added to the watch list as their season performances dictate.
