Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has activated defenseman Mike Komisarek from injured reserve.
Komisarek, 31, has missed the last five games with a lower-body injury. The West Islip, NY, native has appeared in 10 games for the Hurricanes this season after signing as a free agent in July. Montreal’s first-round selection, seventh overall, in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Komisarek (6’4”, 235 lbs.) has totaled 14 goals, 63 assists (77 points) and 669 penalty minutes in 529 career NHL games.
The Hurricanes host the Washington Capitals tonight at PNC Arena (7 p.m., FOX Sports Carolinas, Hurricanes Radio Network).
