Michael Jordan was great at playing basketball. In managing and owning where he starts to fall off a cliff. His Charlotte team was recently ranked 122nd in this list. Tom Ziller of SBNation.com awarded him "Worst Owner: Actually A Bad Owner" designation in a column Monday. His resume in terms of decision making features Adam Morrison, Kwame Brown, among others. So when he became the majority owner, people worried that things might end, you know, like this.
In order to win basketball games, Michael Jordan has removed himself from the equation. He's promised his front office staff that he'll let them do their jobs without his shadow looming over their war-room marker boards. More unlikely still, he's handed over the reins of the Bobcats to a next-generation GM, armed with high-level metrics, to do for Charlotte what he helped do for Oklahoma City -- and in doing so, salvage Jordan's flagging basketball reputation.
Michael Jordan, whose claim to ownership stems almost solely from his inability to admit defeat as a player, has, if only by his actions, admitted defeat as president. The dinosaur is making himself extinct.

^ talk to the owner bout that...
Team owner Michael Jordan nailed it in October, though, when he said McRoberts was the key Bobcat this season.
“The success of this team is McRoberts – how well he can connect the dots,” Jordan said then.
Charlotte shooting guard Gerald Henderson, who played with him at Duke, observed what makes McRoberts’ approach distinctive.
“When most players hear, ‘Participate in the offense,’ that means score,” Henderson said. “With Josh, it’s about figuring how we can all perform better at that end of the court. He could score more, but that’s not a priority. He knows what he’s good at and he practices that very well.”
So well that Jordan said back in October one of his concerns was McRoberts opting out of his contract this off-season and testing free agency. This guy who has played for four franchises since 2011 has become integral to what the Bobcats do.

Back on topic.
Josh McRoberts has been fined $20,000 for his forearm/elbow to LeBron James' throat, the NBA announced Thursday. Along with the fine, the league upgraded McRoberts' common foul to a Flagrant 2, which would've resulted in an ejection. The play happened with under a minute left in the fourth quarter, but McRoberts remained in the game and the foul wasn't even reviewed. In truth, he's lucky to escape a suspension for the foul.
LeBron drained both free throws and the Heat went on to take a 2-0 lead, 101-97.
