Props to Miami... This is what you do when you have an ineligible player

RE: Props to Miami... This is what you do when you have an ineligible player

Who is more in the wrong here. Duke/K for something Magette did in high school or Roy that gave $/gifts to Kansas players right after their senior season, only to admit it & say he wasn't aware it was illegal? Umm, yes Huckleberry, you cant do that.

now there's a nice deflect!!!

Not sure why you called this a deflection (well, actually I do) since this actually DID occur.

During his last two years at Kansas, the school was put on probation again for violations in its men's basketball program. The NCAA said that boosters gave graduation gifts to outgoing players before and after they graduated, a fact that Roy Williams was aware of.[13]

You very well might be spot on. But this thread was not meant to address that situation, and therefore was considered a deflection of the Maggette / Duke situation

RE: Props to Miami... This is what you do when you have an ineligible player

Props to Miami. The coach has done a super job down there. Two. They hustle, and listen to the coach. They are the cutline right now of getting in.

I think Bogeyboy is gone. Nothing from him since 2/28, on any postings. I think this has become a new defintion for ending badly, as he stated numerous times. He was schooled and embarasssed, so he left... what appears to be, for good.

and he didn't even say goodbye. LOL

Rumor is he is pursuing a Masters in Pol Sci. His filibustering skills were noticed by an influential dookie alum and a scholly was offered. If true, then it may not have ended as badly for him than suspected.

RE: Props to Miami... This is what you do when you have an ineligible player

Concerning the topic of the thread....How can Duke sit a player after the season was already over and that has already left for the NBA? Maybe they should have held Battier out a few games the next season for something Maggette did while he was in high school.

RE: Props to Miami... This is what you do when you have an ineligible player

If the NCAA was to follow it's own rules, and also the penalty imposed in the Rose case, who also was long gone, was to have the school vacate the wins / awards from the season. I don't believe the Maggette issue is as large as Rose, but some (similar) version of that penalty should have been made.

So nuc, since you seem to be an expert/authority and know the rules inside and out.

Please tell us why the NCAA did not punish Duke.

Being able to read and understand a published rule, and understand why the NCAA decided not to punish Duke are two totally different creatures.

Maybe a smart Duke fan can tell us why. After all, the rule is clear (bylaw 12.1.2), and Maggette gave sworn under oath testimony.

The closest I've heard, reported by others, to an explanation is that the NCAA turned a blind eye.

Poor thing lol. Maybe if you wish hard enough your opinion will matter. Crying won't change anything. Trolling won't get you any satisfaction. You will have to work harder to tarnish a clean program like Duke.

If you need an easy target to practice on, I hear UNC is under investigation.

Funny, how you cant seem to answer the question.

So, why would the NCAA turn a blind eye to Duke?
