RE: Duke in the NBA
Like to see what everyone thinks about this:
http://espn.go.com/boston/nba/story/_/id/7754950/2012-nba-draft-austin-rivers-says-love-play-doc-rivers-boston-celticsJust so I'm not taking this out of context, he is talking about his Dad coaching him if he was a Celtic.
"I don't want anything handed to me. I never have my whole life. I would have to mature and accept that responsibility. That's one of the things you look forward to when you decide to go pro."
The quip about never being handed anything seemed a little self-serving. Seems to me that he had a scholarship handed to him and chucked it away (he said he was a 1 and done to begin with).
Any comments?
RE: Duke in the NBA
He got a scholarship handed to him by Duke because if Duke didn't hand him a scholarship then any one of 200+ other D1 schools would have given him one. That's what happens to the best HS basketball players.
RE: Duke in the NBA
Austin has definitely had stuff "handed" to him, but maybe not on the basketball court. By all accounts from Duke camp, he had a tremendous work ethic and worked on his game every single day. I think he just meant that he is willing to work hard for every thing he accomplishes, and doesn't want to be treated different than any other NBA player just because his dad is a coach.
Would that be the first time in NBA history a father coached his son? Interesting..

Good job guys and keep it up!
Yeah great job LOL....On Monday, Ty Lawson's Nuggets whipped Boozer/Deng's Bulls
in Chicago. (Seems to be a habit of Flagship alums: whipping dookies on their home court.)
Lawson: 27 points, 9 rebounds 2 assists, 2 steals.
Boozer/Deng (combined) 23 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 0 steals.
Ty Lawson > Boozer/Deng combined. ROFL.

Maybe that was because DERRICK ROSE was injured and didnt play, so Lawson was going against "John Lucas III".
Yeah man, Lawson is better than Deng/Boozer... GoLower you never surprise me with your ignorance. How's it feel to have your 'Holes projected to finish in the dungeon of the ACC cellar next season? ROFL!

You talk about the past while others discuss the present/future. Michael Jordan will not be coming out of retirement. I don't blame you for wanting to focus on the past. As it took K a few years to bring Duke to the spotlight it has taken the talent level of recruits some time to increase so that Duke will have solid players in the NBA. Also take into consideration that 2 very good Duke players were injured in automobile wrecks. As for a ring, if Miami or Chicago win I guess you would retract this arguement? I mean is there a UNC player on a team that is a title contender that plays significant minutes?
That being said, why does it bother you so much that Duke fans are proud of their NBA product? I mean Duke is the top rated college for producing NBA players atm. Why hate? I know it hurts to see Duke pass UNC in a specific category, but do you have to wear it on your sleeve? I could see both Henson and McAdoo becoming strong role players for NBA teams so maybe the pendulum will swing UNC's way soon. Your post rates off the scale on the butthurt meter. Both teams are great contributors to the NBA, and UNC has had some of the NBA greats of old.
Now to address your use of punctuation, capitalization, and sentence structure...

Ty Lawson continues to curb-stomp these great "dookies in the NBA". Today:
Lawson's Nuggets 104, Orlando Magic 101
in Orlando.Ty Lawson: 25 pts, 9 assists, 5 rebounds, 1 turnover in 37 mins.
Reddick/Duhon (combined) 15 pts, 4 assists, 1 rebound (lol), 2 turnovers in 41 mins.
Ty Lawson > Reddick/Duhon combined. ROFL.
