This one will be filed in the "unimpressive/who gives a
crap" cabinet. Keep us posted on more of these.
RE: Nolan Smith Update
Must be playing in some rec league to have that many points.
RE: Nolan Smith Update
Nolan will be a very good NBA player when he gets the right opportunity and chance. I'm glad to see him steadily improving over the course of his rookie season.

The opportunity's coming as soon as Portland unloads the overpriced, team cancer who started at point guard in front of him this season. Unfortunately, Nolan got unlucky and got drafted by a team without a good mentor PG for him to have learned from like most rookies do. Instead he had a starter in front of him who basically played his way out of the league finally with his embarassing negative attitude this season.

With Blazer out of playoff contention and Raymond injured, Nolan gets some playing time (by the way, do let jr know it was as a starting PG, not SG).
In his last 9 games, Raymond's points, assists, rebounds, steals per game averages (14.3, 7.8, 4.1, 1.2) exceeded his career figures. Portland will not offer after the season, but he will be picked up by another team that values what he can bring (as an unrestricted free-agent, he will have options).

His attitude issues are well-documented now. Running Nate McMillan out of Portland was career suicide in addition to admitting he came into the season out-of-shape due to the lockout (while most professionals were preparing for the imminent end of the lockout by hiring personal trainers and playing organized pickup on their own dime). He will get offers as a backup PG making backup money if he's lucky.
RE: Nolan Smith Update
Wow -- pretty big leap to say Raymond was primarily responsible for running Nate out of Portland. And regarding attitude and shape, if Raymond had a history of such, then the concerns would be more concrete...however, that is not the case. In addition, the NBA is quite forgiving and the personnel decision-makers understand the importance of circumstances and systems. Even assuming he would be a back-up, those kind of dollars for a proven 7-year vet ain't shabby (probably near $1.5/yr)...he would get plenty of playing time...and we know that starting is just an injury away.

You thought Nolan was a lottery pick at #21 overall.

No. I'll go with Kyrie Irving, for that. Also could throw in Carlos Boozer and Luol Deng, to name a few others. Thanks though, bye bye now.
