Dawkins Clarification

RE: Dawkins Clarification

So, you trying to sell us that something very tragic, that occurred almost 2.5 years ago, that didn't stop him from playing and going to school for those 2.5 years, winning the NT 3 month's later.... And now, all of the sudden, is wrecking his life.

This situation doesn't have anything to do with how horrible his game was at the end of THIS season. That would make sense.

Despite all this, I wish him the best, but there is ALOT more to this story than the effects of an accident in Dec 2009.

As usual, I ain't buying what you, or his dad, with his on agenda, is trying to sell.

You are a scummy d-bag.

If it is indeed the case, symptoms of PTSD (Post Tramatic Stress Disorder) can apear months or even years after the event. It may be possible that he just beginning to feel the effects.

Very, very true. When my cousin first came back from Afghanistan he was still in a state of shock. His nightmares and flashbacks didn't start until about a year later. He has been going thru counseling for 2 years now and is still having problems. As they say, you have good days and then bad days. Having your sister die in tragic car wreck on the way to see you play-- is something that a person may NEVER get over.

So, you agree that his play of last year are consistent with PTSD, and not a light bulb flip of the switch in April 2012? It was well documented that Dawkins play was well off base / very inconsistent last year.

You are an absolute insult to humanity. You hate Duke, that is obvious and that is fine with me. But you're taking it to a entirely different level man. Grow up

I am not making a judgement on his play, just commenting on his situation based on personal knowledge of the effects that PTSD has had on people close to me. Believe me I am the last person that would be defending a dookie.

RE: Dawkins Clarification

"His dad has an agenda" YEAH it's called TAKING CARE OF HIS SON. Wow...

RE: Dawkins Clarification

Contrary to widespread rumors, Andre Dawkins was never disciplined by the team, never considered transferring or leaving, never got into legal trouble, or anything even remotely related to those subjects.

Dawkins is simply grieving the loss of his sister, and has never really had a chance to fully recover from it amid the spotlight and time consuming process that is playing at a major basketball school like Duke.

A few good articles: http://www.newsobserver.com/2012/04/20/2013270/dawkins-dad-reiterates-andre-still.html and http://www.newsobserver.com/2012/04/20/2013339/dukes-andre-dawkins-working-through.html

I wish the best to Andre, and if taking a year off is what he needs-- by all means, he should do it. Life is more important than sports, and in this case it may be the better option. I always liked Dawkins and felt that he was a great kid, on and off the court. It's sad that internet rumors can be falsified to suggest he was caught with drugs (?!?) or arrested. That couldn't be further from the truth. I hope Andre does what's best for him and that he recovers (as much as someone can) from the tragedies in his life.

Thank you Sub for sharing this. I figured before these articles that that is what this situation was about. It's a shame others have to "get off" on things like this and come up with some ridiculous rumors.

By the way, you all are still welcome over at my forum: http://accsports.proboards.com/index.cgi

that leaves sub,jr, and prime(or whatever trollish name he's using today) off the list as potential members.

Just stop talking, you're making yourself look dumb.
