RE: A good (old) article about the cheating ways of K and Dook
Can we change the title to "A good article that explains why UNC fans stay butthurt?"
RE: A good (old) article about the cheating ways of K and Dook
He was the head coach of record? Um, ok. I give up, you are right. K should get wins/losses from that year as he was in the hospital and his house the rest of the season. Makes complete sense, nothing nonsensical about that. Shows you what a great program Duke has. Even the most hardcore haters hang onto Maggette (that Duke should be punished for something that the Ncaa said they had nothing to do with/hence no punishment) & that K should have gotten losses (for games he didn't coach) If these are the 2 biggest gripes over 30 yrs, that pretty dang good.
But, but, but K cusses and stuff. Sally, so does any coach on planet earth that isn't woefully awful. Deal with it now and your kids won't get beaten up for being Nancy-boys when the play sports.
haters gonna hate. it tastes so good on your lips
^^Agreed. If Duke was all the things the haters say they are, nobody would care about them. They post 1000x an hour on Duke's boards b/c they are in their head. Only the greats are truly hated. Duke is the most hated sports team on planet earth. They are jealous that Duke can have an elite model progam at an elite academic school. It's unprecedented.
RE: A good (old) article about the cheating ways of K and Dook
B/c Duke did nothing wrong.
This is a fundamental point that you ALWAYS miss. As I pointed out before Maggette WAS duke, and, as a duke student athlete, all of his actions reflect on the team. His action of declaring he was eligible, while a duke athlete, was clearly incorrect. When he got the money is irrevelant. When you turn 'pro' doesn't matter. what matters is that you did turn pro. A player doesn't become ineligible when the actions come to light. They were from the second they took the money. Your logic is like considering a female isn't pregnant until she is showing...
As for Lawson, or any other player, they should be held to the same standard. Why? They too, had to provide a written statement confirming their eligibility. I am far from the hipocrite that you think I am.
RE: A good (old) article about the cheating ways of K and Dook
The reason Duke fans need to point these things out is b/c rival fan's hatred skews facts. Use common sense, haters say Duke should forfeit wins from the year Maggette played? Seriously? There is a reason the Ncaa didn't do anything after investigating. B/c Duke did nothing wrong. If Maggette had stayed after this came to light, obviously he would have been ineligible. If it was found out that Ty Lawson took benefits as an AAU player and Unc had nothing do to with it or any knowledge of it, do you think Unc would vacate 2009 and the title? Surely opinions would be different and don't lie and say they wouldn't.
The other shockingly tedious hater point is K and him not getting losses for the 94 season. Again, use common sense. HE DIDNT COACH THE REST OF THE SEASON. HE DIDINT COACH THOSE GAMES. WHY WOULD HE GET W/LS IN GAMES HE DIDNT COACH. This one makes me want to smash my head against the wall.

He was the head coach of record and as such should have been credited with the wins as well as the losses. You may now smash your head against the wall.

You should tell that to the NCAA and see what they say. Just a warning, they probably will laugh at you.

The NCAA doesn't give a D about K's wins/losses. It cares about DUKE'S wins/ losses.
And we're the one laughing at you.....
RE: A good (old) article about the cheating ways of K and Dook
^^That is so weak^^ Btw, no way on earth would you think Unc should have their season/title vacated in Lawson did the same thing. Common sense has to figure in here, but you obviously don't have it. So, can't argue with a brick wall. You are right, Duke should be punished for something they didn't do and in no way possible could have prevented. You are 100% correct. You have more knowledge than the Ncaa, who investigated and agreed that Duke did nothing wrong. You are all-knowing. If this really is topic in your head and bothers you 15 yrs later, it makes it all worth it.
A good (old) article about the cheating ways of K and Dook
that Duke should be punished for something that the Ncaa said they had nothing to do with
is a 100% false statement.
A good (old) article about the cheating ways of K and Dook
Why do you continue to say that Maggette was not a part of the Duke team? What was he in your royal blue world?
RE: A good (old) article about the cheating ways of K and Dook
Could you comment on Roy approving of gifts/cash for Kansas seniors. An obvious Ncaa violation that Roy claimed he didn't know about. This isn't a "Roy should've known" situation, this is something he did & admitted. What is your opinion on this? If a player gets $$ as freshman or a senior, same thing, in the end, they are getting $$/gifts. Reason the Ncaa has a rule clearly stating this. I guess it is ok since it was just Roy "loving his players" Golly-gee, dag-gummit, gee-whilakers.

Was there an NCAA investigation of this incident? If there was and it was determined that the players accepted improper benefits then they should be declared ineligible the moment they accepted the gifts and any games they played from that point should be forfeited. In the case of Maggette, the investigation revealed that he accepted improper benefits prior to enrolling at dook therefore any games he participated in should be forfeited.
