Alex Murphy

Hugged the bench the whole game. I am guessing that K was playing the Match-up game with a smaller team. That being said...perhaps K was also sending a message for Alex to get some "fire in his belly" and start playing like we all know he can. Got high hopes for the young man.

I thought that was strange too. Doubt he will bench him the whole game and then ask him to take off his sweats in the next game against UK at the Georgia Dome. Maybe he is going with Hairston's experience over Murphy just to give Duke it's best shot against UK and then will give Murphy another shot after the Bahamas and Ohio State for the Xmas break cupcakes.

Dude started all the preseason games. Makes me think this was a disciplinary action more than anything. Had nothing to do with matchups against Ga. St. you can believe that.

Personally, I felt like K didn't want to show too much in the early games to give Kentucky a chance to practice against their current sets. I could be way off base, but I may not be. Maybe he didn't want to showcase Murphy's talent so Calipari wouldn't know who best to pair with him. I noticed he didn't run very many offensive sets either...he seemed to run the same sets over and over...an indication of not wanting to give Calipari too much to study up on? Who knows. Maybe it was disciplinary, but I think K would have stated that is the case as he's done so before.

Maybe I'm just crazy...but that's what I took away from it all. We will see tomorrow night, for sure!

Interesting perspective.

I do know that over the years Coach K has never failed to surprise us and the other team especially for marquis games. And alot can and usually does happen when Coach K has 3 days between games. I'll never forget Jordan Davidson starting at PG at Wake Forest to send a message to Chris Paul and the referees. Pure genius.
