If the ACC can't hang together
Does Duke get left out if schools start leaving? I hope the conference members all want to keep the ACC together. If they add UCONN and avoid another defection it might all workout. Now that they have ND lite perhaps there is an opportunity to renegotiate contracts to at least narrow the $ gap between the ACC and the other conferences. That coupled with getting most of the 50 million buyout might be enough. But if another school starts seriously shopping around it might look just like Thanksgiving night at the Walmart. If that happens I think Duke is in serious trouble. Here's how I see it. The SEC takes NCSU & VT. The Big10 take UVA & UNC-CH. The Big12 takes FSU, Clemson, GT, and Pitt. That leaves the privates are left to regroup the ACC. Miami, Duke, Wake, Syracuse, Boston C., and who? Add two more Florida schools, UCF & USF, two more NC schools ECU & UNCC, Old Dominion, Temple, and UCONN and we have a decent football conference and a darn good east coast basketball conference.
