So you picked Duke to win the NC in 2010?? So you were the one person huh?

Pretty certain no Duke fan pointed out how Roy coaching the National Team was him sticking it to UNC to stroke his ego.

99.9% of the time coaches win ONLY because they have talent. Duke ONLY had 6 McDonalds AA's on the 2010 team. Lol! Yep, K just coached them up! Yea right!

I guess he was just sandbagging when he was at Army instead of "coaching" when he had NO talent! Lmao!

Exactly. They seem to want to have it both ways. Which is the norm for this fan base.

Most UNC trolls are quick to point out how Coach K coaching the National Team was him sticking it to Duke to "stroke his huge" ego. Now this one is telling us it provided Duke an advantage. They try to spin anything into any side of any argument to make Duke look bad.

Agree that UNC has had an advantage over Duke over the life of their respective programs. My UNC associates are quick to tell me that UNC gets better players, has better coaches, etc., in hoops. Logic 101 tells me that DS & RW should have more titles than K but they don't. Dems the facts!

I love how you pooh pooh the Olympic thing. Cause everyone gets offered that gig.

And you act like Duke has recruited or had the opportunity to have the same players as other schools. News flash, they haven't.

And at least Duke has not missed the NCAA tourney 3 times in the last 11 years with an average of 7 Mcdaa's on their roster.

And how many Mcdaa's has UNCheat had over the years and only has 5 NC's. Dean had a distinct advantage for the majority of his 36 years as has Roy and they only have two each. How many seniors and Juniors were on your 2009 team.

Face it Roy wins only when he has the most talent and K wins via coaching, see 2010.

    I get a kick out of Duke & UNC fans whizzin back & forth over the following;
most NBA players, most McD's AAs, most excuses, most this, most that. The bottom line is this...

    K has 934 Ws & 4 NTs
    Dean won 879 games & 2 NTs
    Roy has 679 Ws & 2 NTs

All 3 have too many accolades to mention on here, all 3 are HOF coaches, & I'd be willing to bet that none of 'em care what their critics have to say. LOL

    I didn't state opinions, I stated facts.

I said since K has had to deal with the same obstacles as other coaches with top players leaving early that things have evened out. That doesn't include the advantage he has with the national exposure with babysitting the USA team and landing the most McDonalds AA's since 2000.

  • BattlingBishop 5 Dec 1, 2012
    Sports Legend

Topic - absolutely not! Winning big games early only builds their confidence as a team. Pretty sure at this point that Duke believes they can win another NT, not that they didn't believe that before. Great programs reload & move forward.
And no, last season does not matter...new season, same goal (NT)

All left after their junior years, correct? Or maybe sophomore.

But I expect excuses from you. And if you think that Duke and UNCheat recruited the same players prior to 1999 then once again you are showing YOUR lack of objectivity and knowledge.

Duke won back to back NC's in the early 90's with a bunch of white boys.

And we all remember the genius of JR "can't Reid.

This is the EXACT reason why I laugh at MOST Duke fans! Absolutely no knowledge of the game because you jumped on the bandwagon! Lol! Dean had no early defections? He has a team worth of early defections that have all been more successful than ANY Duke player.

Worthy, Jordan, Stackhouse, Wallace, Reid...........I'm sure theres more but next time get your facts straight boy!

You mean like Felton and the boys and Tyler Hansbrough? Has Roy won without a bunch of seniors and juniors?

Btw, what is your excuse for Dean Smith. 36 years, no early defections, 2 NC's.

What should really concern UNCheat fans is a supposed blue blood missing the NCAA tourney 3 of the last 11 years with an average of 8 Mcdaa's on the roster.

Agreed!! Lehigh smacked around a top 5 preseason team who had home court advantage!

Duke fans claim they have the greatest coach in the world but look at the facts: Only 2 national championships in the last 20 years which matches Donavan and Williams despite all the national exposure from coaching the USA and getting the most McDonalds AA'S. When the reality hit in 1999 of players leaving early which all the other great coaches had been having to deal with forever the playing field leveled! Lets face it, other coaches around the country tell their players to go get the money and provide for their families. K keeps them around and then sends them on their way! Selfish! The point guard curse will continue!

Hey, if you want to think one NIT year out of the last eight is worse than 7 early flameouts out of the last 8, keep on clinging to that quickly deflating rubber dinghy while the Flagship cruises on by.

Duke losing to Lehigh is embarrassing (just like Weber State is to UNC); what really should concern Duke fans is the 7 years of early exits out of the last eight.

Duke has gotten off to a great start this season. Mason is one of the chief reasons. Duke is shooting some strong numbers at the foul line, and they are playing well together. Duke will not have to worry about an early loss in the NCAA's this year.
