I agree Hovis. To have a coach for the long haul sends a positive to the parents and players. Plus the fact is that a degree from Duke is way in front of most all schools in the ACC and beyond.

It should also be noted that most of these long contracts are done mostly for recruiting, so that as a coach you can go in a recruits house and assure him that you will be the coach all 4 or 5 years of his career. Any coach that is doing any kind of decent job has at least 5 years on his contract especially if he is older.

Appreciate your statement. Absolutely. Signing Coach Cut until this year is smart from the powers. Coach Cut has one of the best brains in football on any level. The man is genuine. I had the honor of talking to him 3 years ago in P'Hurst. It was like talking to your next door neighbor. UNC and State fans, and all ACC teams should respect Duke for several years. What some people don't even understand is that Duke has such high standards to even get into this esteemed University.

The hokie, always a stabilizing voice on these boards....do you agree the 2019 extension on Cut was good? Many heel fans here proclaim otherwise. I believe he has done well with what he has.

Interesting article. Who would have thought this. Coach Cut has made a believer out of many. State fans probably kicked Duke more than UNC on here. I remember when.... Duke football is on the up swing. Winning this year will bring in some recruits too. Wins make recruiting a bunch easier.

Well, as in their recent successful pgs. I don't think Paige will ever be a Felton, Lawson, and to a lesser degree Kbutter.

Yea injuries no good, but I'd say Scheyer ended pretty well, and cook is making great strides, Thornton leaves some to be desired, we will see if Paige can compare with the recent tar heel pgs's......I just don't see it.

The only decent dook PG in recent times only played 11 games for them.

NO, well maybe a little. I can let MJ being the GOAT slide. Greatest athlete maybe. Not sure how you combined these players in your head but ok. I enjoy UNC basketball and MJ(for the most part). I pull for UNC when they are not playing Duke. I like to see all of the triangle teams do well. Remember that when UNC/NCST/Duke do well we all benefit.

Does that mean recruits these days don't care about the all powerful 91-92 Duke basketball teams? Give us all the Duke time-line mentality rules since you guys constantly make them up as you go.

Real simple if you ask me. Duke started winning games and the fans started to come to games. UNC fans that did not want to be associated with cheating stayed home. Not that hard to figure this one out.

97 team? niiiccceee im sure those young recruits these days really care about that ALL POWERFUL 97 squad, bahaha, that still didnt win an acc championship. Talkin about ANY ACC football team as being superior is a joke. Yes duke has been bad at football, and of course we hope Cut can improve, but bcs bowls are what counts, and neither squad is sniffing one of them anytime soon bud.

LOL at the little guy crowing about a 8-4 season with a shared championship before expansion, the same team that started 1-3.

The #4 final ranked '97 UNC team would have crushed that Dook squad.

Or maybe, just maybe, a little excitement is brewing over at wallace wade. Been years of abysmal football for sure, but never to late to try and enhance your team and the perception of said team. NC football in general needs some work done, especially with the top tier talent leaving the state, inexcusable.

I would expect unc football to be better, years of corruption and gifts for the, along with the enticement of not having to go to class, should bring in plenty big time recruits, woulda thought with all those years of football cheating they coulda at least got a acc championship, no dice, Cut is moving the program in the right direction, all you can ask for, do it the right way and improve. Pretending like any college football is relevant in NC is whats thge real joke, no matter how "good" u guys think u are, you will always play second fiddle to the elite football programs, thanks for playing tho.
