My biggest concern is that Alex is one of the prototypical transfer candidates. Lots of offensive skills, while lacking on the defensive end, still wanting and feeling they deserve more PT. Next he looks up and Parker and Hood is coming next year, sure to eat up lots of the available minutes along with Amile.

Alex Murphy lacks the defensive ability K wants to see. Until he figures out how to play defense to K's liking, he will continue to ride the pine.

I agree, because he is such an asset on the offensive end.

Yep...from what little I've seen of him, he looks to have good potential. Just needs to get the defensive stuff under control. It's been a very good December with the Devils being #1, the improved play of QC & Mason, navigating the tough schedule early. They're playing very well.

It's a balancing act for sure but K does it well. Can't please 'em all. With that said, if he transfers, can't blame a guy for wanting to play. It happens.

The people I've talked to close, who are close with the program, seem to think it's simply a matter of confidence. Once Alex gets his confidence back, he will see expanded minutes. He has played much better (and more) lately. By March, he should be in the rotation.

It's not his fault Duke will have two lottery picks at SF and PF next year. Rodney Hood and Jabari Parker would start over 99% of players in college basketball. We're probably looking at 2014 when Amile Jefferson and Alex Murphy are starters.

I believe so. I don't think Coach K ever penalizes players for offensive downfalls, but always defense. So yes, I think it is a defensive problem.
