Curry Joins Plumlee and Kelly As Duke Team Captain

Curry is averaging 17.1 points, while shooting 50.0 percent (60-of-120) from the field and 41.9 percent (26-of-62) from three-point range on the season for the top-ranked Duke Blue Devils (12-0).
"It is a great honor to be named captain," said Curry. "I have been trying to lead all year, so it is great to have Coach K honor me by putting that label next to my name along with Ryan and Mason."
Curry, a third team All-ACC selection last season, has five games with 20 or more points scoring, including a 31-point outburst in last Saturday's win Santa Clara.
He ranks among the ACC leaders in scoring (3rd, 17.1 ppg.), field goal percentage (9th, .500), free throw percentage (5th, .824), three-point percentage (4th, .419) and three-point field goals (t-2nd, 2.4 3pg.).
The Charlotte, N.C., native is 30 points shy of becoming the 62nd player in Duke history to top the 1,000-point mark. Including his one season at Liberty, Curry has scored 1,677 career points. He and his brother, Stephen, rank fourth in NCAA history in scoring by a brother tandem with 4,312 points combined.
"Our three seniors have really been the leaders of our team," said Krzyzewski. "From the spring Ryan and Mason were named co-captains but Seth has been one of the leaders since then. It seems only natural that all three of them should be tri-captains. It is an honor and we are really happy to make it official."
Curry and the Blue Devils return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 2 with a game against Davidson at Time Warner Arena in Charlotte. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 p.m.
