John Henson scored a career-high 20 points on 10-for-11 shooting Wednesday to go with nine boards, three assists, one steal and one block in 23 minutes off the bench against the Spurs.

What's this have to do with Alex Murphy? Is he a Bucks fan?

So you are saying K and DES coached in different era's. Is that your explanation?

If yes, then why does Roy only have two and what about the 17 years & and DES coached in the same era.

You can laugh all you want about the players I mentioned but that is my opinion and you have yours.

  • THE AMERICAN DREAM Jan 2, 2013
    Veteran

is that on the pro level it's not even a close argument....
unc players have always have been more successful than their Duke counterparts on the next level...

  • THE AMERICAN DREAM Jan 2, 2013

K didn't have talent... Boozer and Brand were/are excellent.... deng has made a nice pro career for himself... I think in making that comment you are selling the amount of talent on those teams (your teams) short....

  • THE AMERICAN DREAM Jan 2, 2013

as you are fond of saying:
    different eras my man...
I am still laughing at the 15 comment...
no one in their right mind would say that...
are you telling me that dawkins, amaker, hurley and whatever names you want to put up are better players than jordan, worthy, perkins or daugherty?
because that argument has more holes than swiss cheese.....

Interesting theory about K. Any ACTUAL proof?

You know, myou are really difficult to have a conversation with. You change the discussion with every post to attempt to make a point.

How did we now get back to 1910?

K has 4 NC's, Roy has 2. It isn't like Roy came back from coaching Bowling Green to build UNCheat into a program like K has done at Duke. He was at Kansas for God's sake.

But back to Dean, which we seemed to have moved of from since I mentioened how unsuccessful he was while at UNCheat. Why do you think he only won 2 NC's with all that all time NBAtop 50 talent and K has won 4 with NO NBA all time 50 talent?

  • THE AMERICAN DREAM Jan 2, 2013

when you had a smaller tourny field the NIT wasn't that bad of a tourny...
you still wanted to be in the big dance but, it wasn't always in the cards then...
now it is a lot easier to get in....

  • THE AMERICAN DREAM Jan 2, 2013

of your SIX nit appearances: which year would you say was unsuccessful?

  • THE AMERICAN DREAM Jan 2, 2013
    Veteran

no I am saying K knew that Capel and the boys sucked and he went home to avoid having those losses stain his record.... simple and true... otherwise the losses would have stayed with the coach that recruited all of those bums... Pete G didn't bring that crew in... K did....
so UNC has 4 losing seasons since 1910!!!
    duke has 12...
nit after winning a championship and losing all of your players...
nit for doh we can't do anything about.... he sucked....
but if we are going to talk about recent history (which you seem to like) you do realize that since roy came back that K has one championship.... Roy has two...
since 2005 roy's first acc year...

Your 15 player thing is an opinion. I gave you my Duke guys and you disagreed. We both have opinions.

I don't coach college basketball, so I a ineligible for the HOF. That is a pretty weak comment, but expected.

So which of the 3 NIT and non NIT years are you eliminating to only have 2 bad years.

So what is your explanation for K having to sit out. Are you saying he was faking and lieing about his exhaustion after coming back to early from the surgery?

  • THE AMERICAN DREAM Jan 2, 2013

    he is in the HOF
    what HOF are you in?
    the foot in mouth hall?
an excuse is taking the entire year off for something 95% of americans would be back at work in a month...
can you say coward? pete gaudet can... it's more like Koward....
the truth is K is a great coach.... Dean was a great coach.... Roy is a great coach....
V was a great coach.... we have been spoiled in this area for years.... No real dry spells (excluding Nc State) between the area schools... for UNC two bad years since the 1960's... Duke has had one as well... besides those occasions we are getting the best basketball anywhere.... still haven't seen any kind of a response to that wonderfully crazy 15 player thing... are you just choosing to ignore those facts or what?

dude I know what surgery he had and most folks go back to work (you know real jobs) with a month... how long is the basketball season?
mo you may be right... it may be that you had to win the ACC tournament to go...
    btw randy
how do you think K would have faired against John Wooden.... Someone who retired before K even got started?
as for your statement of under achieving for coach smith:
1984 Kenny smith breaks wrist... Jordan, Smith and Daugherty easily best team in the land 1992 Derrick Phelps breaks wrist (thanks Bill fn Curley) won in 1993 2011 Kendall Marshall breaks wrist..... that's three chances that were done in at anyone but, the coaches' fault... either one!!! sometimes luck is more important in the tourny than skill... just ask Jimmy V

Glad you didn't disagree with the entry requirements fact I provided.

I consider the modern era when the tourney went to 64 teams. Sorry, but Duke has been better in that time period.

Good for DES, he still choked and didn't even have to win 6 games to win it all back then. With all that talent he waaaaaaaay under achieved. And K can only play by the rules put in front of him.

You remember when K won back to back titles and went o 7-9 FF's don't you.

And lastly, coming back from major surgery toos on to coach your team and endangering your health and life to coach your team is such a bad attribute. His team was 9-3 at the time. Not K's fault Gaudet sucked at coaching.

  • THE AMERICAN DREAM Jan 2, 2013
    Veteran

yeah he only went to the tourny 33 years straight... when you had to win the ACC tournament or regular season to even qualify for the tourny!!!! something that K can never claim...
you do remember when he dumped his terrible recruiting class on Pete G?
He sat out an entire year. Let the school 'transfer' those losses to Pete. He knew his team sucked and went home and hid.... let's see Roy has had cancer and back surgery and he has missed NO games... Some men run and hide... Some men steer the ship back on course...
btw you can have all the alarie's banks, g men, and spanarkles you want....
they don't hold a candle to the alumni from Chapel Hill....
I would say they can't carry the UNC players jocks but, I don't want to give them too much credit...
they can wash them! by the way what is the modern era in your mind? 80's and up? 90's and up? not that it matters: no matter the era UNC still has better pros....

Good for you. Once again, different era's, different players, different requirement pts to play at Dume and UNCheat.

When Duke opened up its recruiting g we have done fine against UNC.

You forgot Gminski, Banks, Alarie, spanarkle also.

Funny, with all that talent DES could only win 2, count em, 2 NC's. Man, he sucked as a coach.

    wow that was/is easy....
if you want to swap green and williams that's fine....
who do you want for your five?
Brand, Boozer, Singler (Laettner?), dawkins, and j will (amaker?) that's cool.... i'll take Daugherty, Perkins, Worthy, Jordan, and Ford.... just for laughs our bench would include: felton, lawson, carter, jamison, stack, wallace, cunningham, mcadoo wow cunningham and mcadoo can't even crack the starting lineup!!!!

Says you.. And who cares. Different era's different types of players. The MJ's and Worhty's and Perkins's would have never been admitted to Duke when they were going from HS to college.

And name 15 players from UNC who are better than Boozer, Deng, Maggette, Battier and Brand in the NBA. And if you go back to their college days those Duke guys would be in most schools top 10's including UNCheat.

Yet with all the names you mentioned, Dukes best player in the NBA of all time would be on Carolinas 3rd or 4th team! Still, quite an accomplishment to have so many players in the NBA from two schools 8 miles apart!
