K retiring from Duke would be a negative for us Duke fans for sure.
Ol' Roy retiring would be a positive for Kerlina.
    That's all folks.

What true statement exactly little guy?

I post fact, not deflections as the Dookies do.

Sad for you guys that the era is nearly over.

Enjoy it while it lasts, the time to pay the piper is soon to be here.

I predicted Dook football the past two seasons and that is a fact.

John Hendrix predicted Oak Ridge 40 years before it was built, doesn't mean he was wrong.

Lst few Duke games Ive seen, Kelly was far more effective the Plumlee. His abscence would hurt Duke more than an injury to any other player on the blue devils team IMHO

Injuries are devastating to any team, especially if they happen to one of their star players. I hope he gets well soon!

3 things that probably won't happen. But in typical UNC fashion, deflect when called out by someone with a true statement. No one used Kelly's injury as an excuse. As a matter of fact, alot of people are excited to see what those bench players can do with expanded minutes.

Hurt? last time I checked Duke was undefeated, #1 in the nation and the ACC. coach K isn't going anywhere for another 5 years so stop your whining and wishing and get back to your garage apartment with your 3 cats.

Hey DS, since you are so good at predicting the future and then predicting the future and then predicting the future and then predicting the future. And nothing ever coming of your predictions, can you give us any dates to coincide with your predictions.

I can tell by your remarks that you are hurt.

If I had a soon to be retiring K, a title banner coming down in disgrace and an impending flameout, I might be hurt too.

    Nah.....probably not.

He never hears excuses from the rest of us either but in true Carolina fashion he opened his big mouth and put that pansy blue foot right in. They tend to do that alot when they sit on the NIT bubble.

Let's hope it is not serious. In the meantime, I look forward to seeing Murphy and Jefferson play more and get into the mix.
I won't lie. I think it would help Duke to beat NC State if Kelly was healthy and playing. But, if he doesn't play and Duke happens to lose, you'll never hear an excuse from this Duke fan. Injuries happen.
    Go Duke!

Its hard to watch his feet at all with those gigantic teeth always getting in the way!

  • BlueDevils00 Jan 9, 2013
    Sports Legend

However, Coach K is optimistic that it's not very serious.

"We don't know the extent," Krzyzewski said. "It's the same foot. He'll have to do a CAT scan, X-rays and all of that, but we don't know the extent of the injury. As soon as we find out (Wednesday), we'll put some word out. We're hopeful that it's not real serious. But for precautionary reasons, we felt it wasn't good to play him in the second half."

Test results should come out today. Whether or not he can suit up for Saturday vs NC State isn't significant right now. Duke just needs him healthy in March, which is probably the reason Coach K felt it was best to not play him in the 2nd half of a blowout vs Clemson.

At one point in the 2nd half, Kelly could be seen mouthing "it's fine" to teammate Rodney Hood on the bench. And considering he never left the game in the 1st half, there's reason for optimism. However, Duke could opt to shut him down for a few weeks until he's fully healed. Circle the game vs UNC on February 13th.

  • BlueDevils00 Jan 9, 2013
    Sports Legend

Anyone who watched Duke dismantle Clemson last night saw a different team in the 2nd half. Ryan Kelly, although never leaving the game in the 1st half, apparently re-injured his foot in the 1st 20 minutes. Kelly came out of the lockerroom in warmups and didn't play in the 2nd half. It's the same foot that kept him out of the ACC and NCAA tournaments last season, and one that he apparently also re-injured over the Christmas break. That injury was very mild and Kelly didn't miss a game.
