Duke Injury Update
http://acc.blogs.starnewsonline.com/34425/curry-expected-back-for-dukes-next-game-kellys-status-week-to-week/The ankle sprain suffered by Duke's Seth Curry late in Saturday's loss to N.C. State isn't believed to be serious and the senior guard is expected back in the lineup for Thursday's game against Georgia Tech.
Curry's injured teammate Ryan Kelly, however, will remain on crutches for the foreseeable future.
Speaking on the ACC's weekly coaches conference call Monday, Blue Devils coach Mike Krzyzewski said it would be weeks, rather than days before the 6-foot-10 forward is able to return to action because of a recurring injury to his right foot.
"Ryan's is a little more long-term," Krzyzewski said. "He's been on crutches to reduce the load on his foot. We'll see week-to-week what that does.
"We're hopeful he'll be back at some time. We just don't want to put a time out there where he's trying to compete against a time. I'd rather just make sure we take care of the injury."
Kelly
Kelly is averaging a career-high 13.4 points per game and is shooting 52 percent from 3-point range. He aggravated a foot that has been bothering him since the end of last season during the second half of last Tuesday's win against Clemson. He spent Saturday's game on the bench with his foot in a boot.
Curry scored a team-leading 22 points against the Wolfpack, including a season-high five 3-pointers, but he sat out the final 3:15 minutes of the 84-78 loss after slipping on a wet spot on the PNC Arena floor while cutting in the lane without the ball.
The injury shouldn't force the Blue Devils' second-leading scorer to miss any further action, Krzyzewski said. "Seth's injury was a slight sprain to the left ankle," Krzyzewski said. "There wasn't a lot of swelling after the game and (Sunday) it looked pretty good. He won't practice today, but unless something else happens he'll be available for Thursday."
