And I still stand by that statement. If I put out a thought and no one has an opinion on it then WRAL should delete it. Wouldn't hurt my feelings.

Can't help it if my thought process is so far ahead of the masses. LOL

Well played. I will try and help you get this one jump started. I agree with you it really does seem like they're letting them play a bit. Ive watched a couple games where it looked like prison ball. That being said, we'll also probably see a game where if they cough in someone's direction they'll get a T. But I agree that its been a little more hardcore in some of the games ive seen.

i know Purvis got pancaked the other night going to the hole in the first half, Bilas was incredulous, as was i

Yep saw that too. Prison yard rules.

Saw that....no excuse for an official missing a call like that. In a situation like that, some coaches would get T'd up. @ Mo, it seems that those who are in charge of calling sporting events are getting worse by the hour.

RE: Is It Just Me......................

So far this year, I have not been able to really watch but a few non-Carolina games, mostly just able to watch a couple of minutes here and there. But from the Carolina games and from what little I have been able to see, it certainly feels like the refs "are letting them play". The stats may tell a different story, but there seem fewer fouls being called per game, fewer of the foul-prone players getting in foul trouble, the games are ending earlier (by 5-10 minutes), and many games are ugly defensive struggles.

The ACC's reputation for calling "touch fouls" hasn't been true for a couple of decades. For 20+ years, the inside game has become increasingly brutal, pushing and shoving with arms intwined by offensive and defensive players, with few fouls called on either except when shooting or rebounding and rarely even then unless blatant. Hesitate going to the basket with the ball or bring it down, then expect to be stripped of the ball with defenders hacking your arms up past your elbows. Normal for a long time, with some games being called more tightly, others more like the ones I've seen this year -- almost no fouls.

What seems to have changed the last couple of years is how the refs are calling things on the perimeter. In the past, touch fouls have generally been called there, the classic reach-in or an aggressive screen or slapping at the ball much above the wrist. The refs in more games are allowing the outside play to become almost as aggressive as that down low. Makes penetration dribble very difficult. Whole offense sputters.

Traditionally, Carolina teams have pounded the ball inside, scoring close in and often drawing fouls, or kicking the ball back out to an open shooter. This style play against most opponents works best when the officiating is between "touch fouls" and "let them play". Even UNC last year had trouble facing collapsing defenses when refs "let them play". Far worse now without their strength, skills, and experience.

Very good observation '70. Time was the ACC flamed in the NCAA's due to the soft nature of their play in regular season but no more. As for unc, they shoot as many or more threes than anybody else this year. No bonafide post players present and more outside shooters than in years past. Same for next year too.

Mo, you must have been listening to Bob Harris call that game lol

I swear every play he said State got away with "SOMETHING"

RE: Is It Just Me......................

Sounds like the wolfers doing a bit of excuse making for the MD whipping....funny though that MD had put state kollege in the bonus early in the 2nd half and state kollege only had 3 team fouls in last 2 minutes. Sounds like things were going the wolfers way....but to them...of course it was against them...lolololol
