^Gonna have to agree there Randy. Pretty hard to "own" anyone on here when he selectively choose which posts to respond to, and ignores those that directly contradict the stupid assertions he makes.

Have you called him the childish names on here to his face?

Still changing the subject I see.

BTW, message boards exist by folks responding to each other. It is how they work.

Owned is you commenting on a post between two others.

Just what I thought. Ask a simple question and this dolt cannot respond.

Still confusing as to why this bothers you if it supposedly hurts Duke.

Or does it not bother you and you just bring it up every day and start threads to attemtp to bother Duke fans who could care less.

The links I provided mean they were true road games.

When those games are played, Georgetown and the others don't give duke any ticket allotment. They sell them like normal home games. If georgetown doesn't sell out the arena the unsold tickets become available to the public and in some cases (like St. John's did for the duke game)they might give duke a block.

At any rate, a true neutral game is when both teams get equal allotments of tickets with the rest being available to the public. None of the games I linked fit the neutral court description.

  • unbiasedaccfan Jan 28, 2013
    Veteran

The obvious differences here are whether playing in a huge arena just off campus is considered a "true" road game. Although Georgetown plays 9 times at the Verizon center that doesn't seem to satisfy some that it would be a true road game. I hate so many are upset over this. I'm sure if Mike knew this, he would shun the extra millions for the program and work to satisfy you fans.

I know of no one else who has not played on OOC road game in 5 years.

Nope, your original d*mb quote says nothing about whether K scheduled them or not, just whether the team "played on OOC road game". Those ACC/Big 10 games were played on the opposing teams home courts.

And UNCG, Georgetown, and St Johns use those arenas as their home courts. Georgetown and St Johns have played all of their bigger home games at the Verizon Center and MSG and as of a few years ago UNCG made Greensboro Coliseum their official home court for all games.

    http://uncgspartans.com/information/Facilities/Greensboro_Coliseum

UNCG's men's basketball team moved into a "new" home in 2009-10, making the Greensboro Coliseum its home court. The move was announced by UNCG chancellor Dr. Linda Brady on December 5, 2008. As a preview of things to come, UNCG hosted Davidson in its new venue two months later and drew a crowd of 11,687. On December 29, 2010 a UNCG record attendance of 22,178 watched the Spartans host the Duke Blue Devils.

    http://www.guhoyas.com/facilities/gu-verizon-center.html

Located in the heart of Washington, D.C., the Verizon Center has been home to Georgetown's men's basketball team since 1997.

The Hoyas have their own permanent locker room at the Verizon Center including coaches' and trainers' offices. Although the Hoyas use the on-campus practice facility of McDonough Arena, there is a full practice gym available at the Verizon Center for the team's use.

    http://www.redstormsports.com/facilities/madison-square-garden.html

Known as "the Mecca of College Basketball," Madison Square Garden continues a 72-year tradition as it hosts the 2K Sports College Hoops Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer Championship, the NIT Season Tip-off and Postseason NIT Championships, the Jimmy V Classic, the BIG EAST Championship and regular-season St. John's games.

ACC/Big 10 challenge, K has no choice. Sorry, that does not count.

The rest of them were played on neutral courts, not on the campus of the visiting team.

    Try again.

There was one year UNC won the regular season and ACC tournament and was shipped out west while Dook stayed in the east. It was while there was a Dook man on the selection committee. It was actually a running joke for a while.

Give K credit he is a great coach! His record speaks for itself. UNC fans WOW!! Who cares where you play? You have two baskets, and basketball. UNC won a championship in the state of Michigan. I thought for sure Mich St. would have the advantage. UNC blew them out!!

Wow a UNC fan saying that Duke gets home court advantage in NCAA tourney. I can remember UNC never leaving the state ( Greensboro, and Charlotte), only to get waxed by Kansas in the four! Im pretty sure Heel fans remember that one? Were you too young, or a trainer was hurt, or you were too tired to comeback, and win? Which excuse was it? So many when you dont win that I lost count.

  • unbiasedaccfan Jan 27, 2013

I think if you check the numbers it will be all about money and the desire to play in arenas where the NCAA tournament could possibly be held. If you look at the home venues of Temple, Davidson, and others Duke has played, the difference in ticket sales alone is staggering. Playing in front of 5,223 on Davidson's capus or in front of 20,000 at Charlotte Coliseum - its only about a half million in revenue difference. What would you do? Take the money or play true road games to make the Tar Heel fan base happy? Not much of a decision.

Actually, while I respect your opinion re: entrance standards, the playing field at these schools along with the "others" in the ACC is leveled by virtue of the fact that the NCAA allows a certain percentage of recruits to be "special case exceptions" to the usual entrance requirements. Even at DUKE!!
