Oregon steals Duke coach
http://www.oregonlive.com/ducks/index.ssf/2013/01/oregon_reportedly_to_hire_matt.htmlNew Oregon head coach Mark Helfrich appears to have made his first hire, snagging Duke wide receiver coach Matt Lubick, according to reports.
CBS Sports Bruce Feldman first reported the news.
Lubick was recently named the wide receivers coach of the year by Football Scoop.com.
"Matt Lubick exemplifies exactly what it means to be a mentor in every sense of the word," Duke head coach David Cutcliffe has said, calling Lubick "simply the best recruiter that I've ever worked with."
Duke was the only FBS team in the country this season with three receivers with 60-plus catches each. Helfrich has said he's open to the idea of throwing more in Oregon's offense.
Scott Frost, who coached Oregon's receivers last season, is expected to be promoted to offensive coordinator, the position Helfrich previously filled.
Lubick was an assistant at Oregon State, coaching defensive backs, in 1999-2000, when the Beavers went to the Fiesta Bowl. Before arriving at Duke in 2010, he was at Arizona State, where he served as assistant head coach and recruiting coordinator while working with safties. He is credited with signing players such as Vontaze Burfict at ASU and Dexter McClusker at Ole Miss, another previous stop on his resume.
