Good thing The Taproot doesn't concern herself with "national polls". We are secure in who we are, and don't worry about what ABC'ers want to believe or lie about.

And yes, Roy Williams is in the Hall of Fame. Not the Recruiting Hall of Fame, just the regular ol' College Basketball Hall of Fame. Maybe _____________________(fill in the blank with your favorite coach's name here)_________ will make it some day, like Roy has.

You can look it up if you're too mad to believe me. (And boy do you seem mad.)

View quoted thread, getting back to reality....just where are those tarholes today? I checked every poll and didn't see a trace of them in the top 25. Bet they're the ONLY team on the planet with 5 McDonald's AA's who can't make ONE national poll. HOF coach? LMAO. HOF recruiter and that's all..

That's nuff said for a dookie ABC'er, sure. For the larger "outside of Durham" world, the following is the FACTUAL:

The Tar Heels have appeared in the NCAA finals nine times, have participated in a record 18 NCAA Final Fours, have made it into the NCAA tournament 43 times (second-most all-time), and have amassed a total of 108 victories (second most all-time). They also hilariously went farther...way farther....than dook last season (Elite 8 appearance for second straight season.)

Looks like The Taproot (UNC) is more = "NCAA", less "NIT" than any of the other area schools -- quite pleasing to us.

    Hope this helps, moving forward.

That "sissy blue" sure made them BLACK unis look mighty...well.....lame.... this past weekend didn't they? Too Unitard-y.

    (LMAO!! Unitardy for K'Tard!!!!!)

At least we stick with our "school colors" no matter what the ABC crowd has to say about them. Your black unis scare no one, state college. They might have back in October. But now? Not so much.

    Not So Much:

    The state college Way.

Royal blue? You might want to check your facts before you post.

"On September 23, 1965, the Executive Committee of Duke's Board of Trustees adopted Prussian blue as Duke's official color."

    That is all.

Insecure about what? At least Duke fans can talk about the possibility of a NC this year. UNCheat fans, not so much.

Oh, and we know, we lost to Lehigh lat year. Key point, that was last year, not this year.

    Not gonna happen.

Marshall wasn't considered the "best" prospect out of the 3. He was 2nd to Mason. Mason actually was considered a one-an-done during high school. Miles Plumlee originally committed to Stanford, and wasn't seen as a great prospect.

However, the info on Marshall is that he's the best true big man, in terms of size and post-moves. He is the tallest, a legit 7'0". He needs a healthy summer and preseason to put on weight, strength, and find a go-to post move. He will be our starting Center for the next 3 years, and I'm just fine with that.

Next year, we will have so many scoring options, all we'll need him to do is play defense and rebound. Ironically, that seems to be the thing he's best at, for now.

It wouldn't have been too much of a stretch. When he committed to Duke, not many were impressed with MP1 or MP2's careers up to that point. This season though, Mason's making alot of people eat crow.

Similar situation as Cook last season. He missed the entire preseason and it showed if you compare what Cook is doing now with a full preseason versus what he did last year without participating in preseason.

Seeing as how he is a back up for a NPOY canidate and is seeing an average of 3-4 minutes per game, you have not seen much. Coming off of an injury and underweight for his size I doubt anything we have seen so far could be taken as a reliable litmus test.

  • seedofdoubt Feb 21, 2013

We will be thin in the post next year with Marshall the only real Big. Parker might spend a lot of time as the 5. Looking forward to seeing Hood play. Dawkins, Cook, and Rasheed will make a great 3 guard set when K wants to go that direction. It will be fun to watch how K melds next years team.

Kelly for the Miami game would be a nice bonus, though he likely won't get many minutes. I will be happy if he's at full strength on the night Duke knocks the Heels off the bubble (although State may beat us to the punch).

Duke Chronicle says as of now, Andre Dawkins is planning on returning to the team for the 2013-14 season. Not sure how effective he will be given his 1 year layoff from basketball. I'm sure he's still playing alot, and shooting a jumpshot is like riding a bike-- you never forget how. Duke is absolutely loaded on the wings next year, with Sulaimon, Jones, Ojeleye, Parker, Murphy, Jefferson etc. Not sure how much PT he will get, but I would love to see him back in uniform and on the court. He deserves his Senior season and Senior night under the lights.

The article also mentions Ryan Kelly, and that there's optimism around the program that Kelly could return in 1-2 weeks. I think they would love to have him surprise Miami on 3/1, similar to how Miami surprised us with big Reggie "Green Mile" Johnson. We need Kelly if we want to cut down the nets in April.
