Andre Dawkins Still Planning to Return in 2013-14, Kelly Update (sorta)
Duke Chronicle says as of now, Andre Dawkins is planning on returning to the team for the 2013-14 season. Not sure how effective he will be given his 1 year layoff from basketball. I'm sure he's still playing alot, and shooting a jumpshot is like riding a bike-- you never forget how. Duke is absolutely loaded on the wings next year, with Sulaimon, Jones, Ojeleye, Parker, Murphy, Jefferson etc. Not sure how much PT he will get, but I would love to see him back in uniform and on the court. He deserves his Senior season and Senior night under the lights.
The article also mentions Ryan Kelly, and that there's optimism around the program that Kelly could return in 1-2 weeks. I think they would love to have him surprise Miami on 3/1, similar to how Miami surprised us with big Reggie "Green Mile" Johnson. We need Kelly if we want to cut down the nets in April.

We will be thin in the post next year with Marshall the only real Big. Parker might spend a lot of time as the 5. Looking forward to seeing Hood play. Dawkins, Cook, and Rasheed will make a great 3 guard set when K wants to go that direction. It will be fun to watch how K melds next years team.
Kelly for the Miami game would be a nice bonus, though he likely won't get many minutes. I will be happy if he's at full strength on the night Duke knocks the Heels off the bubble (although State may beat us to the punch).

Seeing as how he is a back up for a NPOY canidate and is seeing an average of 3-4 minutes per game, you have not seen much. Coming off of an injury and underweight for his size I doubt anything we have seen so far could be taken as a reliable litmus test.

Seeing as how he is a back up for a NPOY canidate and is seeing an average of 3-4 minutes per game, you have not seen much. Coming off of an injury and underweight for his size I doubt anything we have seen so far could be taken as a reliable litmus test.
Similar situation as Cook last season. He missed the entire preseason and it showed if you compare what Cook is doing now with a full preseason versus what he did last year without participating in preseason.

He may well be. We don't know yet because his middle brother is taking all the minutes. We'll find out next season.
