I posted that to get under your skin, toddler. No guarantee Duke wins with Kelly. Enjoy the W.

But ship I must say K would be good for CJL.

Dialing 1-800-ship. Just wondering why you thought Duke would have won that game with Kelly in the lineup. You are the one that always bring up stats. I know it is a team sport. Just let us enjoy a W. Kelly cant guard CJL. He has problems with quick athletic guys. His only hope is to flop. Wasnt he guarding Derrick Williams from Zona a couple of years ago? CJL probably would have had 35 that game intead of 25.

    Ship dialing....1-800-toddler

It's a team sport, toddler, & Duke got the W. Who cares if Kelly was 1-5 in 20 minutes? He's never been a big scorer. But he is a smart, steady player & does what K wants him to do. He knows his role & he plays it well. IMO

Not good at all!LOL! It wasnt all because of Kelly during his tenure thats for sure. 1 and 1 this year. Hope we meet again. Care to research Kellys numbers aganist State the last time they played with Kelly on the court? Give me a ring ship!

Time to prep. Starting the excuses already!! Hate on who? Your seven foot jump shooter! 6-2 against UNC. So I guess it was all becuse of him? Can you say Austin Rivers?

  • Toddler10-21 Feb 26, 2013

My point exactly. Again when did Ryan Kelly become so great? Kelly and Plumlee will be to hard to handle down low. LOL! Dude doesnt play down low!!! Never has, and never will. Kelly will pop out and drain threes. LOL! Dude wont even look at at basket unless wide open. Aganist state last year his numbers were similar. CJL had 6 blocks in that game. Hmm wonder who he was guarding? One of those blocks landed on 15-501!!

Five rebounds for a power foward. No doubt he can shoot ( When wide open). But in order for Duke to make the final four he is going to have to take some of the pressure off of Mason. Kinda like when Shav was there. Same type of players, but Shav had to play more in the paint, and and do more of the dirty work. It worked out Duke won the title.

    52.1$ 3PT
    79.3% FT
    1.5 APG

When did Kelly become such a great defender? I forgot he is good at flopping. Your power forward grabs what maybe 4 boards a game, and maybe a block or two every 3 games? Stretch the floor, and shoot if he is wide open yes.

It's going to take Kelly a few games to get back. Duke should be OK. They have done the job, and will beat Miami soon. VT is a warm up game. I'll bet that Coach K will put 2-3 on Erick Green. Any better's? Erick may go off on them.

The article mentioned set plays for Seth and Mason but missed the set play where Rasheed drives into the paint and dishes to Jefferson on the baseline. Hit that play at least three times against BC. Don't think players are going to leave Amile alone down there on the drive any more, which opens up the paint. A plus either way it's defended.

Sounds like he will be back for Miami, but K is probably trying to get Miami back by putting out these mixed signals then springing the last minute surprise on them like they did with Fat Reggie.

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/college-basketball/news/20130224/ryan-kelly-duke-senior-night.ap/

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) -- Injured Duke forward Ryan Kelly says he wants to return for the Blue Devils' home finale March 5.

Kelly spoke to reporters for the first time since injuring his right foot Jan. 8. He missed his 12th straight game Sunday and watched Duke's 89-68 rout of Boston College from the bench in dress clothes and a boot on the foot.

Coach Mike Krzyzewski says Kelly is "going to be back soon," but he doesn't know what "soon" means.

The power forward with perimeter touch says he'd "love to play Senior Night" against Virginia Tech but is listening to the team's medical staff.

He says he has yet to practice, so "some amazing things would have to happen" for a return either Thursday at Virginia or Saturday against No. 2 Miami.

Ryan Kelly will be back soon. Very soon. Possibly this saturday for a surprise appearance vs Miami, or next Tuesday 3/5 when Duke hosts VT for Senior Night.

Certainly, he will be back for the game against the Tarholes, exploiting their little faux small lineup. This will give him at least 2 regular season games and another 2-3 ACC tournament games to prep for the NCAA's.

When he plays in the UNC game, it will force Roy to go away from his little small ball lineup. Kelly and Plumlee will be too much down low for McAdoo to handle by himself. Once Roy has to counter with James, Johnson, Hubert, or Simmons, Kelly will just pop out and rain three balls.

  • Lux Libertas Feb 22, 2013

His game might be rusty when he returns but his mind won't be. Kelly is a player who relies on his intellect to enhance his game skills. He won't take long to fit back in.

"Duke's Ryan Kelly has targeted a return for the March 2 home game against Miami. "Definitely looking positive. He's been progressing well," said a source close to the situation. "Hopefully no more setbacks before then."

Like I said yesterday, I think Coach K was offended with a few things at that Miami game. 1) The surprise, unannounced return of Reggie Johnson, 2) the floor-slapping at the end of the game, and 3) Larranega left his starters in, up 20+ until the waning moments of the game.

I truly believe Duke took this personal. I saw Nolan Smith state on twitter "Miami is in some trouble, I got a text and all i can say is WATCH OUT!"

Expect the 6'11" big man from Raleigh to be back 3/2, with Miami in his crosshairs. That would give him Miami, VT, and @UNC, plus the ACC Tournament to get reacquainted with the flow of the game.

GREAT news from the Duke camp and specifically Coach K lastnight. During the Duke/VT game, ESPN announcer Doris Burke said she spoke with Coach K earlier in the day, and he sounded more optimistic than ever about Ryan Kelly's return. Ryan Kelly is now completely off crutches, and is running in a rehab pool. He can put weight on the foot and the pain is being relieved.

Coach K has gone and record to say that if Kelly comes back, it will be before the NCAA Tournament. Most assume that is because of the issues when Kyrie Irving returned after injury during the 2011 season. Duke won its first two games, but were beaten by Arizona in the Sweet 16.
