Duke #3 in AP/ESPN Polls, #1 RPI, #3 BPI
Duke is now #3 in both polls, #1 RPI, #3 BPI, all while playing the 2nd toughest schedule in America. After reading about the mock selection committee last week, attended by 30 of the nations college basketball writers/bloggers/etc, it is clear that quality wins (AKA "who have you beat") matters most to the committee. Also, if you had a key player injured for some of your losses, they take that into consideration as well.
It is clear Ryan Kelly will return in the next 2-4 games. All 3 of Duke's losses came without Kelly in the lineup. Before that, Duke went 15-0 against a quality schedule, including Louisville, Ohio St, Kentucky, VCU, Temple, and Minnesota. Add the #1 RPI, #3 BPI, #1 non-conf SOS, #2 overall SOS, and current #3 Poll Rankings... Duke is a lock to get a #1 seed barring an epic collapse in their final few games.
Duke: 8-2 vs RPI Top-50.
State: 3-5 vs RPI Top-50.
UNC: 2-6 vs RPI Top-50.
Still give the slight edge to State over UNC. Their head-to-head win was more convincing. Duke will get a #1 seed, NC state an 8/9 seed, UNC still on the bubble. UNC must beat an elite (or even ranked?) team before they can get comfortable.

Personally, I would rather Duke get challenged in these late season games like IU does. Instead, Duke pounds teams like VA Tech and BC and doesn't learn anything about themselves to prepare for the NCAA tourney.

Obviously you missed Minnesota (who we beat by 17) beat Indiana (who beat UNC by 1,000,000) last night.
Thanks though! Maybe next time little guy! Beat a ranked opponent and then we'll talk!

UNC will lose 3 of their last 4, lose 1st round ACC tournament to B.C., get a #2 seed in NIT and lose to Dayton Flyers again.

Yep, based on trends Duke will flame out in the second round or before. Hopefully the committee doesn't put Lehigh in their bracket. Any questions?
