I don't see where gatech, miami or cincy were ranked last year, when duke played them, so I fail to see why the 'best team in the state' lost 5 straight games to end the seasonSo wins are automatic as long as your opponent isn't ranked as one of the best 25 in the country?

Duke was the underdog against all those teams. They ended up doing what they were supposed to against them, lose. Coach Cut still did a great job getting them to 6-2 because they weren't favored in all 6 of those games either... Having the best record and winning the conference isn't the criteria for COY, if it was Coach K would have won it alot more than he has...

when is the last time duke beat all three in the same season?...last year duke stopped a 19(20?) game losing streak to unc, and several years ago they finally beat NCSU after 10 or 11 straight losses...the last time they beat wake forest, it stopped a double-digit losing streak
the last team in the state to beat the other big 4 members in the same season , is actually NCSU, when TOB started all the mess about the 'state championship'...and NCSU also beat ecu the same year...on a side note, wake forest, unc and ecu were all ranked in the top 25 that year, when NCSU beat them

I don't see where gatech, miami or cincy were ranked last year, when duke played them, so I fail to see why the 'best team in the state' lost 5 straight games to end the season
the acc was, and has been, pretty lame in football...however, you know as well as I do that Cut is so well-liked and has so much emotional support that the voters game him the award based on duke making a bowl game, despite the fact that they lost 5 straight games to end the season....either way, if it bugs the heels fans, i'm all for it...we will see, the rest of the year, who the best team in the state is...and don't be surprised if it winds up being wake forest(1-0 already)
the real sham is duke/State only playing twice in the next 10-12 yrs, just a farce

seeing as how duke has not played NCSU, unc or wake forest yetThe last time Duke played these three schools, they won all three.

you guys were 6-2 last yr, and finished 6-7, which is pretty freakin sad that duke followed up groundpounding the heels by tanking the rest of the seasonThe last 5 games last season were @FSU, Clemson, @Ga Tech, Miami, Cincinnati. Duke was the underdog in all those games. Oh and none of those teams are "in the state". This thread is specifically about Duke being "the best overall football TEAM in the state"...

its pretty lame to give coach of the year when a team finishes with a losing record, and 5 straight lossesThat's a reflection of how "lame" the ACC was last year (and still are except for FSU), not Coach Cut... Coaches don't give themselves coach of the year awards...

seeing as how duke has not played NCSU, unc or wake forest yet, this thread holds no water, just aspirations....i'm happy for Cut, but dont forget you guys were 6-2 last yr, and finished 6-7, which is pretty freakin sad that duke followed up groundpounding the heels by tanking the rest of the season...it could happen again this year, so dont get too full of yourself....i'm an abc'er all the way, but its pretty lame to give coach of the year when a team finishes with a losing record, and 5 straight losses....even duke homers would have to hedge on that one

When you keep getting stomped over and over and you get to be 1-5..... all you can do is hope and pray things get better and attempt to discredit your opponents success. That's all the UNC losers have left and its pretty dad gum funny....LOL!!!!!

^Do not confuse the prison guard, math skills are not a requirement to lock jail cells and eat ho-hos. UNC is the worse football team in NC right now, hands down. A real Heel fan will readily admit that and have already started looking to the future for a change in their losing trend. Unless Fedora can find a good DC, and fast, I see this trend continuing. Even if their offense gets back to putting 40 a game on the board, their defense will still cause them to lose alot of games they should not.

nah, we already established (using your logic) that UNC is worse than any team with a record better than 1-4. Therefore, using your logic, UNC would be 0-4 against Duke's OOC schedule...
