Duke received 50 of 53 1st place votes yesterday at the ACC Basketball Media Day and are now officially the Preseason Favorites in an absolutely loaded ACC. Jabari Parker also received 51 of 53 votes for ROY, winning the award easily.

Both Parker and Rodney Hood were voted 1st Team All-ACC.

It's gonna be a good year

  • jabparker4 Oct 17, 2013

Just curious, when was the last time Duke had two in the preseason all first team acc?

  • jabparker4 Oct 17, 2013

wow, somehow I am unbanned, neato

  • uncpwnsyou Oct 17, 2013

Has the media released it's "All-Gangsta" picks yet?

With their toy weapons and their "Gangsta" signs, I see dook sweeping this award this year.

I remember when Kentucky was ranked #3 before last season and made the NIT in a similar situation.

Anyone remember the last time dook advanced from the Sour 16 in consecutive seasons? (hint: current recruits were in diapers)

    Hi Haters!! Thanks for reading!!!

Duke will run away with the ACC this year as Jabari Parker dominates anyone in his path.

Feel bad for McAdon't -- he will get abused worse than last year when Plumlee was dunking all over him, again, and again, and again... and then one more time.

    Poor guy...

Bad news though, as Duke will sweep UNC in football and basketball this year (again).

I can't wait to see them tomorrow night in person. I saw Hood play in last year's Blue/White scrimmage. He is easily one of the best players we have had in the last 10 years. Combine him with Sulaimon, Parker, Cook, Jones, Jefferson, Dawkins, Thornton, Hairston, Murphy, Semi and Marshall....wow. Duke is loaded.
Gonna be a curb stomping for UNC. Good times.

no matter how many times UNC fans get on here and talk... we all know that deep down, you are worried about your basketball and football programs and are embarassed by the actions of your university. More importantly, you are embarassed about blowout defeats in basketball and more looming in the near future. It's OK -- it's a smack talk forum, so please get up here and make irrelevant points or try to disguise the embarassment that is your university, but in the end we all realize who is on top of the food chain right now... DUKE

  • hoodwinked82 Oct 17, 2013

They know Duke will destroy them this season. This years Duke team is much more athletic, and has alot more of a scoring threat. Combine that with a stifling full court pressure defense and I smell alot of blowouts in store for the duke opponents this season.

They have the potential to be one of the best Duke teams ever, but I can't diss the 2001 team like that. Battier/Williams/Dunleavy/Boozer? No way.

So many scoring options on this team! If your team can't score in the high 80's, don't plan on beating DUKE this year. BTW Don't see UNC getting pass 5th in the ACC, Virginia and ND have better teams.

  • uncpwnsyou Oct 17, 2013

All it will take for dook to drop from their "Preseason NCAA Championship" standing is one little roller-blading accident.

Better hope your new krop o' "Gangstas" are careful on their roller-blades, dookies.

Maybe not 2001... it remains to be seen. But I really do think Parker could be one of the best Duke players of all time.
