Countdown To Craziness - My assessment of this team

Just think if we land 1, 2 or all 3 of the big time recruits for 2014 and a couple of these guys stay another year....
Ah, one can dream, can't he?

I haven't been this excited about a legitimate shot at winning it all in years.

I couldn't agree with your assessment more, GBJr.
Parker and Hood will be the best 1-2 punch in college basketball. What's scary is, we have 12 big-time players on this team. This will be a special year

Is dook REALLY sticking with this as the name of the event???
This doesn't bode well for the cheer sheets this season....

Somehow, after 6 years on here I got banned. Wow. Sensitive moderators.
Here it goes. They are FAST AND FURIOUS.
Jabari Parker – Wow. This is the most well rounded player I’ve seen at Duke. His game is complete from one end of the court to the other. He cannot be guarded at the college level. Every team’s worst nightmare. I could go on and on about what he can do. But, there isn’t enough time. You will see this season, barring injury. He is a lottery pick for sure.
Semi Ojeleye – Athleticism doesn’t seem to be a good enough word to describe him. He is a scorer with elite athletic ability. Tough to guard as well. Reminds me of Robert Brickey, with more speed. He won this year’s “strength and conditioning” title. As a freshmen, this is an honor and quite impressive. This speaks volumes about his personal grit and determination.
Matt Jones – Big, fast guard that is an elite shooter. He will get his share of 3’s that are open looks. However, he can create his own shot. Jones seems to be a good defender.
Amile Jefferson – I will put him in the category of dominant. He has added weight and looks like a force on the boards. He has incredible foot speed for his size. His ability to score around the basket is impressive, even when being double-teamed. He should be a starter. Look for huge numbers from Amile this season.
Rodney Hood – Next to Parker, he is the best player on this team in terms of versatility and ability to score and defend. If Hood decides to drive and score, he is going to. Foot speed and court vision is excellent. At his height he is a nightmare to guard on the perimeter because he can drain the 3 or drive past you, regardless of who is guarding him. The ability of this combo of Hood/Parker/Jefferson can’t be understated. They are unbelievable.
Quinn Cook – Another year at the helm has given him greater poise. His passes are crisp, on time and smart. He can shoot, run with the fast break and take advantage of this FAST/TALENTED team. Cook can break the press and create his own shot. We don’t need him to be Kyrie….just run the point and score when opportunities present themselves. However, if the situation dictates we have seen his ability to take over scoring in short spells.
Tyler Thornton – This guy is a floor general by nature and can be counted on to provide solid PG backup and defensive pressure. He can shoot and pass with confidence and consistency. Andre Dawkins – His body looks lean. He is faster. His 3 point shot is pure and deadly. He isa a better defender and his body language tells me he is here with a purpose. He looks different, in a good way. He received an equal applause as Parker. They were the two loudest of the night. During warm ups I watch him drain eight 3’s consecutive. Rasheed Sulaimon – Could have went pro last year. He is just as good this season, but with more weapons around him. Only downside here (if you want to look at it that way) is the competition at this position. He should get the start though. He only improved. Fast, pure shooter that can drive and score. Almost unstoppable. Josh Hairston – Not much to report. Same Josh Hairston. Solid on the boards and can get scrap points. He might struggle getting playing time this year. WE ARE STACKED. No knock on Josh. Just swamped with talent. Alex Murphy – He looks to have improved and will likely see more minutes this season since he has the foot speed to run with this year’s offense. FAST AND FURIOUS. He can still shoot and just needs to work his way into the rotation. He was one of the top forwards coming out of HS and most would be surprised to see what he can do, if he can get more minutes. Marshall Plumlee – He will surprise you with his speed at that height. He is athletic, like his brothers. I still see him fighting for playing time. I like the guy and believe he can be really good. When you have Parker and Jefferson in the paint it is a tough pair to beat. I wish him the best, now that he is fully healthy. He could be key for us if we play teams with a dominant 7 footer. Bottom line, this Duke team is the most athletic and talented Duke team I can remember. The sky is the limit. If we don’t make it the Final Four with this team healthy I would be shocked. Haters gonna hate. They will hate this team BAD.
