He waste 2 years of his college career at Duke, so did Pumlee, and looks like Rasheed Sulaimon is next on the list of players to be screwed by K.

You seem confused about this redshirt issue. Murphy was redshirted two years ago, after he suffered a bad concussion in practice before the start of the season. He was already younger than your typical freshman, because he skipped his senior year of high school to come to Duke. He would have missed most, if not all of that season anyway, due to his injury, and likely wouldn't have played much if he did return.
The question isn't why was he redshirted. The question is why wouldn't he have been redshirted under those circumstances? Duke only brought in two recruits the following year, and neither of them had signed an LOI at the time Murphy was redshirted.
I think that if you want to think ill of Coach K, it may have more to do with your team affiliation than with any objective facts.
ABCers Partying Dec 6, 4:15 p.m.
I would think that most players want to play the game. Murphy was a highly ranked recruit. Why would he be red shirted if someone hadn't promised him more playing time last year. He hasn't played but 33 minutes. Why would K red shirt any player when he knows he has so much talent coming in. The players that were redshirted have gotten the short end of the stick as will some who are on the duke team. One of those will be Semi Ojeleye. Look to see if he isn't redshirted for next season.

Just wondering - how does referring to Coach Williams as "Huckleberry" and UNC fans as "Tarholes" make you an "unbiased acc fan"?

To NCheatStateULosers - Redshirting someone doesn't "take away' a year of eligibility. I assume Murphy is fairly intelligent - after all he went to Duke - do you not think he could see who was being recruited and evaluate how much he would play? He did and that's why he's leaving. Making statements that you know or don't know that a coach was honest or dishonest with a kid is axxinine and only wishful thinking. If Murphy says he was lied to or mislead then that is one thing, but I doubt that is the case. How about Huckleberry talking Macadoo out of going 7th in the draft two years ago and staying in school. Now he probably won't get drafted since he can't shoot it in the ocean - Did Huck mislead him? Maybe Huck should tell it like it is. Don't make profound, factual statements about knowing what a coach told a kid unless you were in the room. Once again a TAR HOLE fan that doesn't know what he is talking about and produces "unfacts" to support his fantasy.

On Murphy sources........ go to goduke.com. Duke has posted it officially

As I said initially, how do you know what Coach K told Murphy? Murphy used his redshirt two years ago when he skipped his senior year of high school to enroll early at Duke. That was his decision, not K's.
There are a lot of players who will choose to play at a big time program, knowing they won't see the floor much, because they want to learn the game from a great coach. Maybe the kid had aspirations of becoming a coach himself one day, rather than an NBA player. Unless you have some inside knowledge here, you're just basing your opinion on pure guesswork.
ABCers Partying Dec 6, 1:12 p.m.
I disagree. When you're dealing with a young kid's future, you tell him like it is. Just go to him and tell him, that you are recruiting better players and probably he won't be playing, and if he wants to play, he better transfer. You don't redshirt him and take away a year of eligibility.
ooksucks lol Dec 6, 12:45 p.m.
With the incoming class, do you blame him? Better to play one year for someone than to not play at all.
Ken D. Dec 6, 12:03 p.m.
K should have told him that them that they have little or no chance of playing
Were you there for all the conversations between K and these players? How do you know what he told them or didn't tell them? They knew before the season started who they would be competing against for playing time. Murphy could have transferred at the end of last season, but all it would have gained him was a chance to play in somebody else's non-conference games next fall. Maybe he thought there was a chance Duke wouldn't have a successful recruiting year, and that it was worth the gamble to stick around to find out.
In any case, I don't think you can blame K for this situation.
