Kelly was "our" version of Dirk Nowitzki or as the CBS Sports writer said "the college version of Dirk Nowitzki"... We were both right and Mitch Kupchak, Mike D'Antoni, and Ryan Kelly's 17 points against Toronto in his first NBA start and 20 points against Boston in the game before seem to be confirming that he's better than any of you trolls predicted...

    http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/blog/eye-on-college-basketball/21800003/ryan-kelly-returns-for-duke----and-blue-devils-return-to-elite-

Ryan Kelly had become the savior, each Duke setback making the 6-foot-11 senior more valuable, almost irreplaceable around these parts. When he finally returned, whenever it was, the expectations would be unfathomable, too lofty for the unathletic, skilled forward to achieve.

Over the last two months while sitting out with a foot injury, Kelly had gone from one of the nation's most underrated players to the most valuable player in the country. He had turned into the college version of Dirk Nowitzki with each passing game.

Kelly didn't just live up to the hype in his much-anticipated return. He blew it away.

But according to you, Kelly was the next Dirk Nowitzki.

You must be talking about another Nolan, because the last thing Nolan Smith was, was a shoot first PG.

You aren't very bright are you?:

Marshall has played in only 12 games this season for the Lakers after his call-up from the NBA Development League.

Through that span, Marshall is shooting 45.4% from the field and a team-high 46.9% (23 of 49) from three-point range.

His season averages of 10.7 points and 9.1 assists a game include four, low-minute appearances before injury pushed him into the Lakers' starting lineup.

As a starter, Marshall is averaging 13.4 points and 12.4 assists in eight games.

In comparison, Clippers point guard Chris Paul is leading the league with 11.2 assists a night through 34 games.

Marshall has three games with 15 assists or more, joining Nick Van Exel and Magic Johnson as the only Lakers players over the last 25 years to achieve that mark.

Nice deflection and change of subject.

I sure wish I cared enough to go pull some of the posts and threads about how great KM was and how he was going to be so successful in the NBA.

He cant defend adn cant shoot, a pass only PG will not last. He is stop gap until their injured players return.

Laker great Robert Horry. Really, so now he is great. Why, because he could shoot 3 pointers standing still.

Magic is great, Kobe is great, Jerry West is great, Kareem is great. Robert Horry, not so much.

That same night KM had 19 . Lakers have now moved Kelly into a starting spot and they have won a few in a row.

    Who knew?

Kelly had 20 against the Celtics. WOW!! Go Lakers!!

I agree a little on both sides. Kendall can pass, but still cant shoot. Ryan is there because he is 6'11", and can shoot sometimes when open. He is stiil soft, and cant guard. I think if he was five inches shorter he wouldnt be in the NBA, (Scott Wood). I read a tweet from former Laker great Robert Horry. He was disappointed in Ryan because he didnt help take up for his Nick Young when he got mugged going in for a layup. Put it this way if you want Ryan Kelly isnt that type of person. He will help break it up, but as far as fighting? I dont think so.

and to be honest, both km and kelly are only there because the lakers have absolutely nothing to play for this season. besides kobe, they've lost about 6 other guys to injury - 5 of them point guards... everytime a player goes down, they are filling the spot with someone at the nba minimum. as soon as blake, nash and farmer are healthy enough to suit up, they're gonna have to re-assess the roster and one of them will more than likely get cut...

So how many players go from college to the NBA? Think about it. Ryan is on a roster. I for one did not think he would make it to the. Nba.

Sometimes you have to look at the individual and then do an analysis.

If I could find some of your posts from last year I wonder how many of them were you saying how terrible Ryan was and he would never play in the NBA.

Only 9 players dressed an Kelly can't get minutes. Might be because his play is dreadful. Just another coach K success story.
