The Duke men's basketball team released a portion of its 2012-13 schedule on Tuesday, showcasing a slate that could include up to 13 games against 2012 NCAA Tournament teams and eight games against teams that received a top-16 NCAA seed.

Highlighting the non-conference schedule will be a neutral site showdown against reigning NCAA Champion Kentucky at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Ga., as part of the State Farm Champions Classic on Nov. 13, 2012. The matchup features two of the winningest programs in college basketball history in a series that has not been played since the 2001-02 season.

Including Kentucky, Duke could potentially face three of the four teams that advanced to last year's Final Four. Ohio State will visit Cameron Indoor Stadium on Nov. 28, while a possible matchup against Louisville looms on Nov. 22-24 at the eight-team Battle 4 Atlantis in Naussau, Bahamas. Duke could also face 2012 No. 2 seed Missouri, Memphis, VCU, Stanford, Northern Iowa or Minnesota at the Battle 4 Atlantis.

The Blue Devils will also face NCAA Tournament participants Temple on Dec. 8 in East Rutherford, N.J., and Davidson on Jan. 2 in Charlotte, N.C., in a pair of neutral-site contests.

Duke will release its conference opponents on Thursday with the full scheduled expected to be released by the ACC in late August.

Dook NCAA tourney failure>everyone else the past two seasons....With that said, NCAA>NIT in ANY season !!! LOL!

Not exactly.... from a pure competion perspective, the bottom 12/16 teams are all worse than the tops teams in the NIT. So after the first round of cupcakes and easy games for the 1, 2, 3, and some 4 seeded games are played, then the NCAA is much better.

After all, how often to 1-4 seeded teams lose in the first round. We all know 1's never have... so we'd have to consider a 2 losing... like the worst loss ever.

Can't say Coach K doesn't play anybody. That schedule is quite impressive. Potentially playing 3 of lastyear's final 4 teams? BTW, the game against Kentucky is for Champions Classic... Coach K did not "choose" to play Kentucky the year after they lost 5 starters. They are in a rotation with Michigan St., Kansas, and Kentucky. They beat MSU in NYC last year for Coach K's 903rd win. In 2013 they will play Kansas in Chicago, I believe.

Three of the final four teams from last season who all lost most of their players, and on neutral floors because K is scared to play other OOC teams at home. Color me unimpressed. And playing Kansas in Chicago? Let me know when he can play someone on their home floor without being forced to. Then he might just have to fake that injury that he alluded to when he lost to Temple last season.

Duke is part of the Champions Classic, Battle 4 Atlantis, and ACC/Big10 Challenge. The game locations and opponents for these games were not chosen by Duke or Coach K. They simply chose to participate. The people who run these tournaments choose the location, setup, and opponents.

BTW, Louisville returns 90% of their players this season from a final 4 team. I still don't understand your point/logic, if there is any.

The only reason why they chose to participate was because they weren't required to play these other teams on their home court... If they would have had to, the rat would have not chosen to participate. FYI....it's called an up front condition.

Can someone tell me the most recent team in the ACC to win a national title or to go to a Final Four for that matter? Certainly wasn't the academic fraud cesspool in Chapel Hill.
