Duke swimming & diving head coach Dan Colella has announced the addition of Jesse Moore to the Blue Devil coaching staff. Moore will serve as an assistant to the swimming & diving program after previously spending two seasons at William & Mary.

“I am extremely honored and excited to be a member of the Duke University Swimming & Diving staff and I’m looking forward to joining the team as a Blue Devil,” Moore said. “I can’t wait to get started and help Dan, Dawn [Kane] and Drew [Johansen] with the program.”

Moore joined the William & Mary coaching staff as a graduate assistant in the summer of 2010 before being promoted to the program’s assistant coach in the summer of 2011. His responsibilities included overseeing the teams’ middle-distance and distance swimmers, in addition to assisting with recruiting and administrative duties.

During Moore’s tenure at William & Mary, the men’s team finished as high as third and the women fourth at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships. Under his direction, Tribe swimmers captured CAA titles in 10 events, broke 46 program records and turned in 17 NCAA provisional qualifying standards. Moore’s two seasons also saw the program have its first CAA Men’s Rookie of the Year honoree, first CAA Men’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year and its first U.S. Olympic Trials qualifier. In addition, both the men’s and women’s squads were named Scholastic All-American teams on multiple occasions.

Prior to his arrival in Williamsburg, Moore spent one season (2009-10) as the assistant coach at Drexel. During that time, the Dragons’ swimming & diving teams earned CAA championships in two events and had five student-athletes garner All-CAA recognition. The teams also broke 12 program records and had one individual post an NCAA provisional qualifying time. In addition, the men’s and women’s squads were named Academic All-American teams for the 2009-10 season.

Before being promoted to the role of assistant coach, Moore also served as the graduate assistant at Drexel for two seasons (2008-10).

A four-year member of the Tribe swimming & diving program, Moore graduated from William & Mary in 2008 with a degree in neuroscience. He went on to earn a master’s degree in Public Health from Drexel in 2010.

Moore is a member of the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).

“Jesse joins us after a very successful two seasons at William & Mary,” Colella said. “He will bring a new, energetic dynamic to the staff which will only enhance what we are trying to accomplish as a program. We are extremely excited to be adding Jesse to our current Blue Devil coaching staff.”
