Kyle Singler scored 19 points to lead fifth-ranked Duke to a 69-44 win over Virginia Tech in the teams' ACC opener Sunday night.
Gerald Henderson scored 15 points and Nolan Smith added 13 for the Blue Devils (12-1, 1-0), who outrebounded Virgina Tech 38-28 and played their best defensive game of the season.
Malcolm Delaney scored 12 points for the Hokies (9-5, 0-1).
Leading 39-35 early in the second half, the Blue Devils ended the game on a 30-9 run.
