Duke AD White: No concerns about Coach K with Team USA

Kevin White doesn't seem the least bit worried that Coach K's involvement with Team USA will have a negative impact on Duke's basketball program. If anything, Duke's athletics director believes the experience will benefit the university.
On Tuesday in Las Vegas, it was announced that Mike Krzyzewski will return as the head coach of Team USA through the 2012 Olympics in London.
The very first question posed to Coach K in the ensuing press conference: "In what way does this impact your job at Duke?"
The potential impact on Duke hoops has been debated by fans and media since Krzyzewski first agreed to take the helm of USA Basketball in 2006. While Team USA reclaimed Olympics gold in 2008, the Blue Devils have not advanced past the Sweet Sixteen in the past three seasons.
Krzyzewski has repeatedly down-played any connection between his dedication to Team USA and the declining success of Duke basketball. On Thursday, Duke's AD lent his support while talking to 99.9 FM The Fan ESPN Radio.
"I think it's priceless," White said. "It gives him a platform like no other coach on the planet has. If you talk to Mike – and I have, an awful lot – he feels it's really made him a better coach."

As I've said several times, if Roy were coaching the USA team I would wholeheartly support him - I think it's a tossup between sportsmanship and common sense. Which, are two reasons why some tarholes are against Coach K and the United States.

Sadly, I have to agree with you, and I'm a Carolina fan. I don't know why some Heels fans are so critical of K coaching Team USA. We're all on the same team in this one. Let's go for the gold and support Team USA and K.

They are in Vegas right now recruiting?????????? NO ONE ON HERE KNOWS WHAT THESE COACHES DO AND WHEN. If "K" wants to coach Team USA, fine, being told how to do ones job is "BS" or micromanaging; no one likes it.

Like White realistically has any say in the matter at all.
Coach K has earned the right and the reputation to make the call on this one and he wants to do it.
I will be honest thought that it probably takes some time away from recruiting which may make the difference between sweet 16 and final 4 teams.

Winning 5 NCAA championships and taking the Devils to the woodshed all the time has only made Carolina more "jealous" of Duke---everybody knows that.
But I'm still not sure how you can call someone a "tarhole", yet boast a higher level of maturity . . .
I guess it's because being the place where dookie comes from is only slightly derogatory, but being called a dookie itself is just crass.
