With a 143.2 quarterback rating, and a touchdown-to-assist ratio of 15-to-4, Blue Devils QB Thaddeus Lewis is riding high in Durham.
Guided by second-year head coach David Cutcliffe, Duke heads to UNC on Saturday at 5-3, 3-1 in the ACC. Suddenly Blue Devils basketball players aren't the only ones getting high-fives on campus.
"Campus life is great, you know, a lot of people patting you on the back and things like that," Lewis explained to 99.9 FM The Fan ESPN Radio. "But, you can't get content. Your job is not complete."
Duke's season didn't get off to a great start, losing their opening game to Richmond. Through three games, the Blue Devils were 1-2 and Lewis had thrown just three touchdowns.
"I wasn't fully healthy at the beginning of the season," Lewis told The Insiders.
The Duke QB said things began to change after a conversation with a friend.
"Somebody just told me, 'It's your senior season, just have fun.'"
"Now I'm just going out there and having fun," Lewis continued. "Things come to me, rather than me going out there and trying to press the game."
Duke needs to win two of their final four games to become bowl-eligible for the first time since the 1994 season. Next up for the Blue Devils, a rivalry game at North Carolina.
"Nobody has to tell you to get up for this week," says Lewis. "Maybe the younger guys don't understand, but once they get out there on that football field - all the trash talking and things like that - then they'll get the sense of, this is a rivalry, and we really don't like each other."
