Durham, N.C. — Duke University incoming freshman Mollie Pathman is set to travel to Orangeburg, N.Y., this weekend to participate in a three-day training camp from July 4-6 with the United States U-20 Women's National Team. Following the training session at the Orangetown Soccer Complex, Pathman and the U-20 squad will head to Germany for the 2010 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup.
The U.S. team will arrive in N.Y. on July 3, play two scrimmages over the next three days and depart for Europe on July 7. At the U-20 Women's World Cup, the USA will be playing in Group D along with Ghana, Switzerland and the Korea Republic.
The U.S. will open against Ghana on July 14 before facing Switzerland on July 17, with both games taking place at the Rudolf-Harbig Stadium in Dresden, a newly built 27,000-seat venue that will also host games of the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup. The U.S. team will then travel to the recently renovated FIFA Women's World Cup Stadium in Bielefeld, a 28,000-seat venue, to conclude group play against the Koreans.
A product of Durham, N.C., Pathman was recently named 2010 Gatorade National High School Player of the Year after totaling 29 goals and 10 assists for Durham Academy. The Cavaliers registered a 12-4-1 overall record and reached the Class 3A state quarterfinals this year. Pathman is a two-time Gatorade North Carolina Player of the Year and four-time NSCAA Youth All-America, while concluding her prep career with 135 goals and 61 assists, both school records.
Pathman also trained with the U-23 Women's National Team earlier this month. She will be a freshman at Duke in August.

At least soccer has coverage; most summer sports don't get it
But I guess it is nice to see SOME local sports coverage! One would think we only have soccer around here! Could be just a narrow range of interest by the reporters.
Congratulations to Mollie!
